Utah-BYU: Call it...
How are you guys seeing this game? Ute fans are awfully confident. Zach Moss apparently has an injured hand (to what effect, who knows). Zach Wilson ended the season on a very high note, but has had off-season shoulder surgery and.... Huntley is not a very good QB (IMHO). I actually think BYU might win this one. I see Utah as ripe for an upset. What say you?

Re: Utah-BYU: Call it...
I just don’t think BYU is that good and they didn’t get much better from last year. They went on their typical end of the year run against crappy teams and boosted their stats.
As long as Utah plays smart and hungry I think this could be a 16 pt win.

Re: Utah-BYU: Call it...
They picked up two quality backs in the off-season (Katoa is now no. 2) and Wilson has had a year of prep (interrupted albeit by shoulder surgery). I'm not convinced Utah is all that. I'm not impressed with Huntley. YBU scared the hell out of Utah last year....hipsterdoofus21 wrote: ↑August 26th, 2019, 10:39 pmI just don’t think BYU is that good and they didn’t get much better from last year. Utah by 14-17.
I think the talent gap has gotten so wide that as long as Utah plays an above average game BYU can’t hang with them.

Re: Utah-BYU: Call it...
If they could both lose then that would be great for me. I despise both programs. Utah is so high and mighty and thinks they are better than everyone else in the state. I work at the U research park so I hear plenty of Utah fans. That being said I loathe BYU as well. To me there is just no winner in this game.

The smug from pwovo will encounter and merge with the smug from the pukes and create a perfect storm, enveloping North Central Utah. It'll be horrible

I think the game will be decided by the play of Huntley and Wilson. If Wilson has a great game and Huntley doesn't, then East Provo High School wins. That is how I see it.

Re: Utah-BYU: Call it...
Utah 28 BYU 21.
If Utah wins, that's great – my prediction was at least partly correct, and who doesn't like seeing BYU lose, lessening the media HYPE BYU garners every year.
If BYU wins, that's also great – it positions us to play and hopefully beat the only other remaining undefeated FBS team in Utah, enabling us to hold the Wagon Wheel for an additional year. Beating BYU after BYU beats Utah would also grant us the Beehive Boot (even though the boot apparently doesn't travel around anymore). Plus, Utah's too busy playing SJSU, NIU, Wyoming, and Idaho State to find a place on their schedule to uphold a century-old in-state rivalry, so I say, (I can't express myself without swearing) 'em.

Re: Utah-BYU: Call it...
I HATE both teams but HATE BYU more!
I hope: the game goes into overtime; they beat the $H!T out of each other; they play dirty (leg sweeps, ankle twists, uppercuts to the family jewels, etc., in other words all of the things that BYU has done to get named "Dirtiest Team in College Football"); BYU loses on a last second game ending play in similar fashion to the way Arizona lost to Hawaii; afterwards the two teams engage in a bench-clearing bloody brawl with Francis Bernard sucker punching a BYU player while the BYU player is being restrained by one of the coaches; all disciplinary actions are handled internally by both programs; both teams go on to lose the rest of their games; and after the season BYU football players, coaches, and staff go onto follow the BYU honor code by living chaste and virtuous lives; obeying the law and all campus policies; using clean language; respecting others; abstaining from alcoholic beverages, tobacco, tea, coffee, and substance abuse; participating regularly in church services; observing dress and grooming standards; and encouraging others in their commitment to comply with the BYU Honor Code.

Re: Utah-BYU: Call it...
I think last year was BYU's best chance. Given the scare Utah got last year they will be ready and focused. I think Utah wins this one with no problem.

Re: Utah-BYU: Call it...
lets face it, this is ybu's bowl game essentially, they are SOFA KING jealous of the Utes it's not even funny. No matter how down the why seems to be, they always play up for this game, because beating the Utes would essentially be their entire season. Utes are pretty confident all high and mighty P12/P5'ers. I'm going with odds shark on this one - Utah by ONE POINT!

BYU will lose this and it won't even be close. Utah won't even have to open their play book. I hate to say it, but I could see Wilson getting hurt somewhere in the first four games. The kid likes to run, and in my opinion he was lucky to stay healthy last year. If he runs like that against the first four teams they play this year he will get injured. The kid looks like he's only 14 for Pete's sake!

Utah-BYU: Call it...
I want Utah to lose, but I don’t see it. I hope it’s a close game and will be happy when the game is over and not the center of media attention. I will end up watching the game because BYU is on the schedule and I will end up having a conversation with Utes and BYUVU-P fans. It’s also more interesting than the San Jose game that isn’t on TV and Arizona State vs. a MAC team. I feel bad for the few San Jose fans, their game is only on AM radio.

Did he stay healthy? He had to get shoulder surgery in the off-season. I agree though, he’s going to get broken in half.captain68 wrote: ↑August 27th, 2019, 9:18 amBYU will lose this and it won't even be close. Utah won't even have to open their play book. Suspect you are right about the odds of a running QB getting hurt, especially playing some of the teams they will meet in their first four (4) games. I suspect if Wilson is still suiting up when he gets to Logan and enjoys the benefits of our AGGIE defense this November he will feel the results of that game for more than one (1) day.
Wilson is a good young Q B, and has a couple of years of post high school maturity on him. I can't take that away from him, but when he gets up close and personal with a couple of our linebackers, he will feel some real contact.
Re: Utah-BYU: Call it...
24-13 Utah. Utah won’t look good on Offense but their D will look good. Like about every year since 2008 they will be a QB / offensive coordinator short of being a great team.

Re: Utah-BYU: Call it...
My physical therapist is a BYU grad and big sports fan. His comment was that despite the rivalry nature of the game that he thinks the talent level since the PAC12 and independence shifts has become so disparate that he only sees BYU ever winning on a "Utah's worst day and BYU's best day scenario". I don't know if it is that unlikely, but I don't see enough added new talent on the BYU team to warrant picking them for a win, even if Zac Wilson plays lights out.

Re: Utah-BYU: Call it...
Unlike BYU-P, Utah can actually back it up when they say they’re all that and a bag of chips. I really just don’t see the Tigers being all that great this year at all, although they do seem to overperform in the first game of the season, so who knows. I still think Utah wins by two scores.
What I really want to happen is for each team to play as sloppy as humanly possible with 7-8 turnovers each, culminating in a 2-0 victory for BYU. It’d be nice to shut the Utah fans up a bit just since they’re almost getting to be worse than the BYU fans.
Also, I found out today that this game is on Thursday and not Saturday. It’s easy to miss that kind of thing when you don’t care all that much lol

Re: Utah-BYU: Call it...
Interesting you say this seeing as the OC in 2008 and 2019 are the same person
Re: Utah-BYU: Call it...
I know right? Fans seems to think it will be fixed this year. Back to the good Ol’ days! We will see. I think the QB / Head Coach has been more of the problem for the Offense but what do I know? Maybe Whit trusts him more than other OCs and will let him do his thing. - there is reason to believe that will be the case. He was at Utah a while and is being PAID this year. Might take more than a year for him though.UtesAggs>BYU wrote:Interesting you say this seeing as the OC in 2008 and 2019 are the same person
