Aggie Merchandise Feedback Request
USU may be expanding with marketing to hopefully create some new merchandise options for fans. I know that things have gotten better lately but there are still often times comments about how USU is lacking in merchandise availability. Now is your chance to speak your opinion. Let USU know (either on Twitter or in this thread) what you'd like to see. Tell them what you like and what you don't and maybe your ideas will become a reality.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Aggie Merchandise Feedback Request
Honestly, between the USU bookstore and Locker 42 there is enough stuff. My problem is walking into a store in Davis county, where things would sell if anyone knew where to find it, there is Ute, Cougar, and random college teams. I do think part of the problem is I almost expect very limited options for USU merchandise outside of Cache Valley. The last time I saw something I was surprised to see it.
Re: Aggie Merchandise Feedback Request
I have seen USU gear at the Roy CVS, but overall you are right, USU gear stops at Sardine Canyon.Full wrote:Honestly, between the USU bookstore and Locker 42 there is enough stuff. Re: Aggie Merchandise Feedback Request
My biggest issue is that outside of the block A ( now used for alumni association only), USU branding has always struggled with identity through simplicity. We have had some gawdawful logos and "artwork" used over the years, much of it doing nothing more than adding to the confusion of identity. Pumba the pig bull, the brief use of the bull jumping through the U, the smoke blowing dairy head, all of these were straight awful with either far too much line work or not even being an official athletics logo.
Nike finally comes along and gives us the current branding and it was great for a few years. It seemed like we finally had a direction and identity with primary and secondary brands/marks that could grow to be nationally recognized without having "Utah State" or "Aggies" added. A few years removed from that and it seems like there is a push for a use of all these retro logos that weren't that great the first time around. Perhaps there's a small local market for those wanting to feel nostalgic but I hope we don't see a large number of this stuff put into circulation, it only adds to the notion that we either don't have a clear current identity or we do and it's not worth promoting.

Completely agree 100%. Just keep it simple with our two logos. Design some new clothes or hats around those.Aglicious wrote: ↑August 23rd, 2019, 11:35 pmMy biggest issue is that outside of the block A ( now used for alumni association only), USU branding has always struggled with identity through simplicity. More polos, more light jackets/pullovers, more car accessories, more home & office accessories, toys for kids, clothes for kids, yoga apparel/ mats, tailgate accessories
We are lacking a lot. As far as t-shirts go i was looking in the bookstore website for what’s new to wear to Wake.
Everything was either something that barely even represented USU, or something extremely generic. I had to go to Amazon to buy a car flag because I refuse to fly the flag that looks to close to the US/Greek flag because I see it as somewhat sacrilegious-
There is usually more offered on campus, but the selection is not good on the website.
Instead of asking for new ideas, why don’t we just try to do what every other school does to just catch up.

I certainly prefer their stuff vs no name Gildan apparel with our logo slapped on.
But I don’t really care who it is out of Under Armour, Nike or adidas.

As long as it looks good, I'm happy, but Nike generally has the best designs, in my opinion.

Re: Aggie Merchandise Feedback Request
I don't think it is the availability. I think it is the reach. I need to be able to order this stuff, so I don't have to make the trek to Logan. Currently, I drop $500 each time I go to the bookstore or Locker 42.
Re: Aggie Merchandise Feedback Request
Nike is head and shoulders above everyone else with the design of their apparel. When does the contract end? Hope it gets renewed.

Re: Aggie Merchandise Feedback Request
My biggest issue with USU apparel is the USU hat selection. I have a gigantic head, and it is IMPOSSIBLE to find an Aggie hat in my size (8 1/8, fitted). Also, all hats look like they were made by some second rate designer, designing for a 12 year old idiot (logo askew, stupid lettering, background bull, huge logo on the brim, etc).
This is why I always just go with the Aggie jersey and stros hat. Don't @ me.

I agree with the simplicity comments above. This is as much branding as I want on a shirt:

Oh,
And make available to the public what the team wears. I’ve seen all sorts of cool team gear during interviews Iike shirts, shorts etc but nothing at locker 42 but generic grey t shirts with a cheap logo painted on.

Re: Aggie Merchandise Feedback Request
What’s the rights relationship for the U state logo? I thought Nike designed it for USU but does USU keep the rights to it if Nike goes bye bye. If Nike walks away with that logo and USU can no longer use it then I say stick with Nike. That’s the best logo USU has had in my memory.brownjeans wrote:Here's to hoping we go with someone else.aceofspadeskb wrote: ↑August 25th, 2019, 2:57 pmNike contract is ending soon. Re: Aggie Merchandise Feedback Request
Nike had restrictions on it for a year or 2 but after that USU gained full rights of it. Arizona State had a new brand designed by Nike a few years back and then switched to Adidas. They didn't lose anything...although their uniforms are a lot uglier now than they were before.WAaggieFan wrote: ↑August 27th, 2019, 4:58 pmWhat’s the rights relationship for the U state logo? Our uniforms the first couple years with Nike were nice, not so much lately. The best soccer uniform designs I've seen recently are New Balance. I wonder if they'd like to get into football uniforms.

Re: Aggie Merchandise Feedback Request
When the Nike contract is up (2021 maybe?) I expect us to switch. It seems Nike is focusing more and more on the bigger programs and is less interested in the smaller programs. IMO Nike has the best uniforms but if they are going to give us second rate stuff anyways, might as well get a better deal with another brand who is going to make us more of a priority.

I would love to see a good rugby style USU shirt.
Agree on the logo, don't change it yet again. Since I went to USU in 1989, we have had at least five different primary helmet logos. Stick with one, and have one or two variations for special events.
