Dogs on the Quad

Post by BigBlueDart » July 21st, 2019, 12:19 pm

My wife is playing with the Alumni Band this summer, and they are performing on the Quad tonight. I'm trying to decide whether to bring my dogs with us to watch or not. Does anyone know if there is a prohibition against dogs on campus? They'd be leashed and I'd bag the poopies, of course.

Don't know about the Quad, but I do know people will sometimes bring their dogs to games at Aggie Legacy Fields without any problems.

One funny thing related to bringing dogs places is that a few football players will have their wifes bring their dogs to practices, as the dogs are the opposite of people in that they go to practices but not games.

Also, I can still remember when I went to Logan High and the football coach before Favero, Perry Christensen, brought his dog to school and lost it and I can remember people asking if they saw a dog run through the lobby. Then for days, they would tell us on the announcements that he lost his dog, a cocker spaniel, and that we were to contact him if we found it.

I also remember in Los Angeles, walking outside my hotel and would walk next to an auto repair shop that had these big, nasty bulldogs that run at you and bark loudly at you, with the fence being the only thing between you and them.

I’m sure it’s too late to change your decision, but we’ve walked around campus, in the TSC, and on the quad with our dogs without any problem. I don’t think there’s any rules against it so long as you pick up after them.

Asking for a friend, do the dogs get set at not being allowed to go to the games and only practice?

I’ve been away for a bit so I’m late to the game, but I don’t think there’s any problem with bringing a dog on a leash to he quad, and I’m sure the vast majority of patrons and performers at those concerts wouldn’t mind at all, especially if you’re off to the side or in the back.

If you make it back to the alumni band concert on August 4th, feel free to come say hi. Three guesses what instrument I’ll be playing

FYI, there were plenty of people with dogs there. That was part of the problem for me, though, as my dogs have not really been properly socialized with other dogs. They saw another dog and started getting really excited. I ended up spending the concert walking them around the back half of the Quad a bunch and then sitting in the grass much further back.

Do you mean the fagot or the sackbut?

I can actually hold my own pretty well on the fagotte, and I recently learned how to play sackbut. It’s a little more different from the trombone than one would think...

Fagotte is plural, do you play 2 at once?
