Longest Home Winning Streak?

Post by YoungBloodAggie » July 17th, 2019, 12:05 pm

What is the longest winning streak we've ever had at home? Is there an easy way to find all game results for USU throughout the years?

I ask because we are currently sitting on a seven-game home winning streak. I think there is a reasonable chance we stretch it out to ten before the BYU-P game. It would be pretty sweet to be able to start touting our winning streak and get people excited about that before the Zoobs come into town. Right now I am seeing that we won 14 straight home games from 2013 (after the Boise State loss) to 2015 (the loss to BYU).

Fourteen ain't too shabby (however, the all-time record is 58 by Miami). I am wondering if there was a time in the 1960's where we would have done better than that.

Not in the format you want, but this is USU's list of all games played:

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

I am not ashamed to admit that Winsipedia is bookmarked on my home screen.

Also, I found my answer. We won 17 straight home games between 1959 and 1963.

We also won or tied 25 straight games between 1931 and 1937.
23 wins, 2 ties.

I'm trying, unsuccessfully, to find a ranking of active home winning streaks. Ain't got the Google skillz. Can anyone else find a list?

Call it an "undefeated at home" streak, then. Ties also ain't losses.

I think its typically referred to as an "unbeaten streak" (in the beautiful game anyway).

So if we can win out at home for the next *THREE* years we could tie that unbeaten streak from the 1930s.

(Note if we won a conference championship on our home field any time during that stretch we would beat the previous record by one game (or two or three depending how many home field MWC Championships we won).

Only have to make it through two seasons to beat the all-time winning streak though! Should be easy!

Ties? Ha, does anyone remember when there used to be ties in Football? I think in Ca it was my sophomore year 1987. After that pretty much everyone went to the current system. Awe the good ol'days LOLZ

I'm pretty sure it wasn't until 1996 that the NCAA adopted the tie breaking rules. (That's what all my Google searches turned up anyway.)

When I played at Logan High, we always had to wear ties to school on game day. Jackets, too.
