Re: Last Boise TD
They couldn't run the clock out as there was 7 seconds more on the game clock than on the play clock. They had to snap it and a TD sealed the game.

Yeah, it’s what I would have hoped USU would have done were the roles reversed.

Re: Last Boise TD
I fully expected them to go for it. Even if they didn't make it in, that would've left us on the 1 yrd line with only a few seconds left.

Re: Last Boise TD
The call actually showed USU considerable respect: they take a knee, we get the ball with a long field, but our offensive weapons are such that the two point lead could have evaporated. A good coach doesn't leave that to chance.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Re: Last Boise TD
The announcer was saying that the right call was to kick a field goal to take a five-point lead because USU’s potent offense somehow might get a field goal with four seconds left, the ball on their own two-yard-line and no time outs. I couldn’t figure that one out.

Re: Last Boise TD
It was a no brainer decision. I actually think the announcer realized it after he said kick the FG, but couldn't admit he was wrong. If you don't make it, we have 4 seconds left. That is one play to go 99 yards. Better for BSU than if they kick the FG and we have 4 seconds (one play) you go 75 yards.dogie wrote: ↑November 25th, 2018, 5:13 pmThe announcer was saying that the right call was to kick a field goal to take a five-point lead because USU’s potent offense somehow might get a field goal with four seconds left, the ball on their own two-yard-line and no time outs. Re: Last Boise TD
Everyone who wagered on USU +3 (like I did) sure was hoping that they would take a knee there - or that we would tackle them short of the goal line... or even that they would snap it ans run backwards for 7 seconds then throw it out of bounds. Anything but punch it in!!
I'm a reasonable man, get off my case.

Re: Last Boise TD
It was poor analysis by the announcers, but I think they realized it. WIth that little time, whether the lead was 2 or 5 was not consequential. Boise State made the right call. With our offense we can score from anywhere on the field and a FG would give us a chance from the 25 to make something happen.AgMac wrote: ↑November 25th, 2018, 6:19 pmIt was a no brainer decision.
