A random memory test

Post by GameFAQSAggie » January 5th, 2011, 10:58 pm

With us going a week without a game, good for the players to practice but boring for fans, I have some trivia as a memory test.

In our last year in the Big West, 04-05, when we played Cal State Fullerton at their place, we played them in the afternoon to do them a favor. Why did they want the game moved up to the afternoon?

To make sure they got to bed on time?

No, none of those three. Keep guessing.
One hint I will give you is that Al Lewis did mention it publicly on the radio.

A player was on parole, and had to be home by a certain time.

A few hints:
1. It had nothing to do with us, It was just Fullerton wanting to move the game and us doing them a favor
2. It wasn't something singling out one player
3. It had nothing to do with Disneyland

They were scheduled to go on a road trip and wanted to fly out that night?

I think it was their homecoming. I was at the game and USU ended up losing. Spencer didn't play for some reason.

Spencer had the broken nose? I can't think of why else he wouldn't play. But then I thought we played really well while he was out and didn't lose on that road trip. My memory may be off.

As for why it was moved up, IIRC, Scott Barnes thought it would give CSF the advantage, even though he wasn't at USU yet. He was planning ahead for the demise of USU athletics.

No, it wasn't Fullerton flying out that night.
It might have been homecoming, but there was something else besides just homecoming causing them to want the game moved to afternoon.
Another hint, it involves something that Utah and BYU have but we don't.

As for Spencer Nelson, he did play in that game. What you are thinking of is the year before when he didn't travel on the Fullerton/Riverside road trip. He broke his nose in practice before that trip, not in the Fullerton game. That year we played Fullerton on Thursday(at night) and Riverside on Saturday. The year this trivia is about, we played Riverside on Thursday and Fullerton on Saturday.

JasonJensen nailed it. Fullerton had a baseball game at night, so they wanted the basketball game played in the afternoon.

Ok Jeff here is your test

Who made the first shot
who made the last shot
How many turnovers
what was our record after the game
what kind of shoes did the aggies wear that year.

If I could remember only a fraction of what you can my head would explode

I don't remember the first shot of that game, I would have to look it up.
I remember Spencer had the last chance to make the shot and they took it away from him, as per Al's call
Don't remeber exactly how many turnovers or what kind of shoes.

I don't remember our exact record after that game, but I do remember that we were(still) winless in close games where we had to make plays down the stretch. That year, we could win alot of games in blowout mode, even against teams as good as Utah(who was good that year) and BYU(who admittedly wasn't good that year, but we did it at their place), but could never make the plays towards the end in games where we had to. We went into the afore mentioned Fullerton game hoping this would be the chance to win a close game, to no avail. We finally won a close game against Fullerton in the tournament after not being able to all year long.
