A Slow Night in Sports

Post by Yossarian » December 20th, 2024, 8:50 pm

I was watching a little of the Notre Dame - Indiana game and was looking at the channel guide on the YouTube TV. I saw that CBSSports was television the 2024 Plumbing National Championship. Thinking this had to be a weird name of a golf tournament or auto race of some sort, I switched over to CBS Sports Network.

Sure enough, there are plumbers in a room tuning PEX pipe to water heaters and what-not. It is then I realized that I watch far too much TV. I don't know what is more pathetic - watching 18 and 19 year-old kids getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars on top of free schooling to play a sport, or watching plumbers compete at an organized competition - both have the same bearing on my life.

As an update, Craig Childress chose the PEX and finished ahead of runner-up Tyler Eddleman, who chose copper tubing to win his fourth National Championship.

Exciting stuff.

For some reason I wish I had watched the plumbing championship. This playoff game got boring as soon as Shane Gillis was no longer on tv.

I must have watched the same channel after you did -
I saw the final few minutes of the Ideal Electrician National Championship. Link below says it was on at 8pm EST yesterday so I must have watched the replay that ended around 11pm local
They had a little "room" and had to run wire from an air exchanger and water heater to a breaker box -which they also had to install -in 90 minutes. None of the 5 finalists completed the job, so the judges looked over their work and made a decision on who had done the best job.
Tom Kennedy of Big Bend, WI was crowned last night -his second title(2022)

The playoff games have been lame. I haven’t watched much.
