MWC VBT: scenarios
Right now it's looking like the MWC VB tournament will include (with current records)
CSU (12-2)
SJSU (11-5, including wins by forfeit v. BSU x2, Wyo x2, USU and UN)
SDSU (9-5)
FSU (9-5)
USU (9-5 including one loss by forfeit)
BSU (8-7 including two losses by forfeit)
So if those seeds hold (don't know how the tie would break between 3-5, but it's hypothetical at this point), then BSU would be in the half of the bracket against SJSU and could meet them in the semis, and USU would be in the other half and could meet SJSU in the final.
Both BSU and USU (had only one scheduled match between the two) have forfeited their matches against SJSU to protest born-a-boy Blaire Fleming on the Spartans squad, as everyone knows. It's one thing to stand up for your principles in one or two games in a 18-game season, quite another if your season and NCAA tournament opportunities are on the line. What will happen if they have to meet Blaire and the Spartans in the final?

Nobody here knows anything.

Re: MWC VBT: scenarios
The other thread got transphobic, so I stopped reading and replying to it. But I read an article in an Idaho paper saying that the BSU players voted to play the games against SJSU but then the politicians in Idaho threatened to cut their program's funding if they played. I would hope that these same politicians would not force a team to forfeit a conference championship just to win a few votes, but who knows? I hope that even those who are opposed to allowing trans athletes compete are upset that this decision was made by male politicians and not the female players. That is all I have to say about that in order to keep this thread out of the Sandbox.NowhereLandAggie wrote: ↑November 11th, 2024, 7:54 amThe girls on the team would likely play in my opinion.OKAggie wrote: ↑November 11th, 2024, 7:05 amRight now it's looking like the MWC VB tournament will include (with current records)

Re: MWC VBT: scenarios
Well if San Jose would suspend Fleming after she was caught cheating by giving a CSU player the scouting report and letting her know that she would have a free lane to the San Jose player that is suing the NCAA, this wouldn’t even be a problem. But it seems that all that has happened is the San Jose associate head coach was put on administrative leave for speaking up about the whole situation on the San Jose team.
Such BS.

Let's not pretend like all the girls on the volleyball team had their hand forced by some unknown entity.

So because four players were in favor of it that means the decision was made by the team?3rdGenAggie wrote:Let's not pretend like all the girls on the volleyball team had their hand forced by some unknown entity.
They very well may have chosen not to play. I truly don’t have a clue. But the decision came from above the players, the coaches, and even the department.

Re: MWC VBT: scenarios
well let’s hope they’d play because CSU has proven all you have to do is be a good volleyball team, they’ve handled other teams, including SJSU. I hadn’t heard of whatever scandal was involved with CSU mentioned above. But it’s obviously not like SJSU has some inherent advantage that cannot be overcome by quality opponents

Re: MWC VBT: scenarios
Regardless, I think we can very much compete with any team in the field. I've been saying all along that I wouldn't be surprised at all if this team gets hot and wins another title. They're extremely good when it's clicking.

Re: MWC VBT: scenarios
Serve receive when our setter is on the front row has been lackluster. The good news, that they can do it. The bad news, they have shown they get in funks and don't overcome it.
This team is solid in offense. So a small improvement in serve receive puts them winning matches instead of dropping sets. But Rob is coaching them up and if we keep the majority of these kids, they will just keep getting better (Mentally and physically)

Re: MWC VBT: scenarios
I took my 2 daughters to the game last night. They started out strong, then fell apart in the 2nd set.
I thought the match was over after in the 4th when they were down 5 or 6, but they rallied and won the match 3-2. It was exciting to watch them beat UNLV, and though it wasn't as big as a basketball crowd, the Wayne Estes center was a loud place.
They clinched a spot in the tournament, and are tied in the loss columns with 2 other teams. It was a fun night, mostly because my daughters liked it I suppose.

Re: MWC VBT: scenarios
They won both games this week. Tonight was 3-1 over SDSU, and on Thursday a 3-2 come from behind over UNLV. (I attended with my VB loving daughter and was impressed with the play and atmosphere in the Wayne Estes Center.)OKAggie wrote: ↑November 11th, 2024, 7:05 amRight now it's looking like the MWC VB tournament will include (with current records)

They are 11-5 in conference and 14-12 overall. This includes the forfeit loss to SJSU. Two more this week on the road against Wyoming and CSU. It will likely be a 1-1 split, but only time will tell. As long as they don't lose both, they will end up in the MW tournament as the #3 or 4 seed. I don't know all the tiebreakers, but they are tied with Fresno in the loss column.
