Urgent issue, save women's sports!
The women's basketball team is scrimmaging and practicing against men on campus. We need to stop this immediately, how will we ever protect them from injury? It is also unfair they may lose the scrimmage because men are biologically superior to women.
When will anyone save women's sports and protect women from this practice that has been taking place for over 20 years on campus?

I wonder who will win? It will probably be a very close game.

I am sorry you can't see the difference between a scrimmage in practice with a coach, and men competing against women in National Competitions, taking scholarships, winning awards with mediocre times and play for men's competition.rAggie wrote: ↑October 23rd, 2024, 10:37 amThe women's basketball team is scrimmaging and practicing against men on campus. I won't try to explain it, other than my high school daughters scrimmage against boys in VB all of the time under the coach's direction and then compete against girls from other schools during their matches.

women's sports teams practice against mens teams all the time, so why? they want to play against bigger, faster, stronger... so that they can get better against teams that are their equals!! sometimes it's that they can't get a competitive teams to practice against without doing that!!

It kind of proves the point that they can get a bunch of random guys on campus who are more competitive for them.tipitup wrote: ↑October 23rd, 2024, 11:04 amwomen's sports teams practice against mens teams all the time, so why? they want to play against bigger, faster, stronger... so that they can get better against teams that are their equals!! sometimes it's that they can't get a competitive teams to practice against without doing that!!

It's likely we wouldn't have given in on forfeiting against San Jose State if other schools didn't do it first. You have to wonder how many other crazy things there are that no school will willingly do FIRST and be the only ones to do it, but it would just take one school doing it for there to be pressure for a second school do it, making it look more and more acceptable for third and fourth school to do, then more.

It’s the same principle as athletes practicing with weighted balls. I don’t get why this is so difficult for some.

Re: Urgent issue, save women's sports!
Why have separate women's categories if there is no difference between biological men and biological women? USU could save a lot of money by only supporting one basketball, XC, track, etc. team with scholarships available to anybody with no consideration for their gender.rAggie wrote: ↑October 23rd, 2024, 10:37 amThe women's basketball team is scrimmaging and practicing against men on campus. Re: Urgent issue, save women's sports!
Those rando guys they brought in have been on hormone therapy for over a year, so they are now on the same level as our women’s team. Nothing to see here.
Edit: oh crap I see the problem. The guys they brought in might replace the actual team. Crap.

Re: Urgent issue, save women's sports!
Maybe the basketball coach can get 6 or 8 of those guys brought in for scrimmage to say they identify as women and put them on the team. That is a great recruiting strategy.

Get hit in the face with anything from anyone, male or female, trans or not, and it can cause damage. It's almost like that's an inherent risk in playing volleyball, no matter what.

Even more of a risk when playing against someone who has a distinct, biological advantage.Chewie995 wrote: ↑October 27th, 2024, 2:56 pmCo-worker of mine took a spike to the face while they were in high school that left them with a concussion. A female basketball player taking an elbow or a charge from another girl is different than taking an elbow or a charge from Karson Templin for example.

It could happen in co ed volleyball as well, but the net is 4" higher than in the women's game which changes things a little

Just ask yourself, briefly, why they'd practice against men instead of women.

I've played co-ed in a lot of stuff. There is a reason why girls don't regularly play third base or pitch in slow pitch. I have seen girls get hit in the face with spikes. That is typically the end of their play that night. I always will take it easier in co-ed games. I don't want to be "that guy".

Re: Urgent issue, save women's sports!
I've played a lot of co-ed volleyball and went to tournaments on weekends. One weeknight when we were just playing a girl got hit in the face and snapped her neck back and she wasn't able to play for 6 months. This was an experienced girl. The guy who hit it was an average player and not within a mile of college player. I believe we were playing a men's height net. There is a safety issue but more so a competition issue. Most of the guys that played with us (including myself) never played high school volleyball and nearly every girl played competitive high school volleyball on good teams. If we ever played guys vs. girls the guys would have won by a large margin every time by so much it wouldn't have even been fun. Sure the girls would score a few points on dinks or when the men made a bad pass but it wouldn't be close. So if it isn't a safety or competitive problem why don't we just have one basketball team open to everyone and see how many biologically born women make the team? I'm for women's rights enough to let them play a sport that is designed for them without men taking it over.tipitup wrote: ↑October 28th, 2024, 2:27 pmi've played a ton of co-ed volleyball. not college level but a lot of games.
