Women's Soccer Tickets??
Got an email this morning that season tickets for Women's Soccer are now on sale. I go to a few matches a year and it's always been free. Be interesting to see how this effects attendance.

Re: Women's Soccer Tickets??
I got that email and wondered myself.
Crossing sports, I put my 'deposit' down for Volleyball and the deposit was almost what I thought season tickets were last year. But they did mention I could get reserved seating, so I was excited about that part.

Re: Women's Soccer Tickets??
Last year was so awesome that it was pretty sad that we weren't taking a gate fee.
I have news for all Aggies: the Aggie soccer experience > the Aggie football experience. There, I said it.
It looks like it might be a $5 entrance fee this year. If this affects attendance, I'll never forgive our fanbase.
Standing offer: I'm buying a pair of soccer season tickets, and if you want to go, but are too cheap to fork out the $5-$10 (or are a student trying to get a family member or friend in or something), hit me up, and I'll send them over to you for free for a single game (If I'm not already going. I plan to go to maybe 1 or 2).

I'm excited to see how the team does this year. Anybody know what expectations are? Do we return many players from last year, did we get some good recruits? What were the biggest losses and do we have good replacements?
I'm interested, but uneducated :P

Championship calibre teams should cost money to see. One of the things you’re seeing our new AD do is find new revenue streams and ways to modernize our programs (giving the product away for free benefits no one except the freeloader).

Re: Women's Soccer Tickets??
Yeah, I have no problem with charging a few bucks to watch a good product. We'll be far from the only D1 soccer team charging for admission, it's easily worth 5-10 dollars.
The team should be really good again this season. They a couple of all-MW type players, but have some pretty strong underclassmen, a couple of transfers and an impressive looking recruiting class. I'd guess they're picked 2 or 3 in the preseason poll.

Re: Women's Soccer Tickets??
I'm committed to doubling my season ticket allotment for basketball next year. Excellent product, terribly underpriced. As evidence, I bought basketball season tickets last year and sold only the tickets to the conference games on Seat Geek and made a pretty decent profit (unless you're an IRS Agent... In which case, I sold at a profound loss). The school should get some of that delta (and will).rAggie wrote: ↑April 30th, 2024, 12:52 pmChampionship calibre teams should cost money to see. I should also add that I really want one of those USU Soccer scarves but don't know where to buy one.
I was looking for one at the game that I went to in Logan last year, but the merch on hand at the game was non-existent. Instead, I gave my credit card to my wife and kids and told them to buy whatever snacks they want. They obliged.

Wow, looks like Coach Martins has put together a strong out of conference schedule:

Impressive! Too bad none of the in-state games are at home.

Yeah, seems like most of last year's in-state games were, so I'm guessing they just alternate. Strange that they wouldn't be at least a little bit staggered though.TrueAggieman wrote: ↑April 30th, 2024, 2:21 pmWow, looks like Coach Martins has put together a strong out of conference schedule:

Hosting Texas Tech and Wazzau is pretty cool though. Texas Tech was a top 10 team last year.

Re: Women's Soccer Tickets??
Unfortunately there's only one weekend where FB and Soccer play both play at home: October 19 (UNM) and 20 (AFA). (Also could do Utah football on 9/14 and soccer at Weber on 9/15 with a little effort.) Would it make sense for the conference to try to schedule conference games where out-of-town fans could get to both games over a weekend?918AGG wrote: ↑April 30th, 2024, 5:32 pmI'm going to do my best to be at the Texas Tech, Wyoming, and CSU games. FWIW: volleyball is only a little more fruitful. We play Air Force at home 10/12, same day as the UNLV football game; and SDSU on 11/16, same day as Hawaii in the Mav. But a Mav/Club Estes parlay sounds like a perfect Saturday.
Nobody here knows anything.

I am jealous of UVU and their new soccer stadium:
https://www.uvu.edu/news/2022/10/2022_1 ... adium.html
Wish we had a donor into soccer like that. But to be fair, they don't have a football program/stadium to poor money into. Makes me wonder how much money it would take to make Bell Field one of the best in the country. It doesn't seem like an impossible goal based on other stadiums.

100%. Volleyball has Estes, which is pretty damn phenomenal. Something with a similar vibe would be great for soccer.TrueAggieman wrote: ↑May 8th, 2024, 11:30 amI am jealous of UVU and their new soccer stadium:

Soccer will get there if we keep having seasons like last year and keep Manny Martins around.
I tried to go to a soccer and football game in the same weekend last year, but only got to go to a soccer game (I-80 was closed due to a winter storm). The soccer game was so wonderful that I almost didn't care about missing football (the Fresno game).

Bama soccer games are free to attend, and they made it to the final four a couple of years ago.
Granted, Bama also gets a lot more money from their conference and football team than we do.

Re: Women's Soccer Tickets??
I have just assumed that other than traditional revenue sports like FB, MBB, and Gymnastics, if I wanted to make the effort to show up and support the non revenue sports, no one would really stop me.
Is this not the case? If not, it sort of should be. The value of having fans (any fans) supporting the kids is probably worth much more than the $5 or whatever you are going to collect from a few people at the gate.
When there are opportunities to give free admission for a non-revenue event with the purchase of a same weekend ticket for a revenue event (FB, MBB, GYM) would we not be colossally stupid not to advertise it and do it? Seriously!
And, by the way, that fabulous UVU Soccer facility looks like it must hold 5-6 hundred people. Probably more than enough.

Re: Women's Soccer Tickets??
Well, that was always the case in the past, but clearly even having free tickets wasn't enough to convince people like yourself to attend. I'd imagine the thinking is that people who see the value in attending those games aren't going to let a few bucks dissuade them.RogerAndersen wrote: ↑May 20th, 2024, 5:37 pmI have just assumed that other than traditional revenue sports like FB, MBB, and Gymnastics, if I wanted to make the effort to show up and support the non revenue sports, no one would really stop me.

I'm curious to see what attendance numbers are like at soccer and volleyball this fall. Fresh off of winning championships is definitely the time to try it out.

I couldn't disagree more. Soccer is easily one of the best sports products that we have. We have generally below-grade facilities, an awesome coach, and a very talented team. They deserve more than just the casual cheap (I can't express myself without swearing) showing up.RogerAndersen wrote: ↑May 20th, 2024, 5:37 pmI have just assumed that other than traditional revenue sports like FB, MBB, and Gymnastics, if I wanted to make the effort to show up and support the non revenue sports, no one would really stop me.

I went out to Logan for a game last year and was shocked at the quality of play for lack of pay. This is clearly overdue.
Complaining about the $5 admission fee, when one could just as easily donate plasma, pull the whole $5 from their bank account, split a Domino's pizza instead of eating a whole one, wait one single table at a restaurant once, or raise the $5 by performing a whole host of activities, is colossally stupid and makes me really mad at our cheap (I can't express myself without swearing) fanbase.
I reiterate my standing offer from above: If you want tickets to a soccer game but are too cheap to shell out the $5, DM me, and I'll send the tickets to you without outing you as a cheap (I can't express myself without swearing).

Re: Women's Soccer Tickets??
From an economic standpoint there is perceived value that the university is projecting and probably fans notice self-consciously. When the university charges nothing they are sending a signal that there is no value to going to the games, instead they can charge a small free advertise it as a great value, or sell season tickets or even bundle season tickets as a "women's sports pass". And may get more people to games.RogerAndersen wrote: ↑May 20th, 2024, 5:37 pmI have just assumed that other than traditional revenue sports like FB, MBB, and Gymnastics, if I wanted to make the effort to show up and support the non revenue sports, no one would really stop me.

Sell a women's sports pass for 40 bucks that gets you into volleyball, gymnastics, and soccer, there are probably quite a few people that would go for that. Those people previously may have only gone to 1 or 2 events for each of those sports per year when it was free, now that they have a pass, they may as well get their money worth so they end up at more games.
Aside from that, the price elasticity for the fans that are already going to soccer games is probably pretty low from free to 5 dollars. So your probably lot losing many fans.
Also, I assume that students will still be free, which is were much of the benefit of having fans in the stands comes from anyway. Also you may get more students to come if they know they are getting free tickets and are getting a deal, again because of the perceived value.

Domino's has a carryout special for a large 1 topping pizza for $7.99. Splitting that only saves me $4.00. I am guessing the USU event staff won't sell me a ticket when I am short by a dollar (those tightwads).

Re: Women's Soccer Tickets??
I live in salt lake and can only go to games on weekends, and sometimes not even then. I bought season tickets to both women’s hoops(for three years now) and first year buying season tickets for volleyball. Two season tickets for womens hoops were $50 total for the past few seasons. If there’s a game you would like to attend, let me know and I’ll send you my tickets for that particular game. Like I said, good chance I won’t be using them. I buy them to support the teams.
