With limited seating because of obstructed views at 14 k at the Delta Center and 12 k fans already asking for season tickets I think they are off to a great start.
how do you sell 20k season tickets for a 14k venue? are they planning to build a 20k venue and manage the discrepancy in the meantime? seems like a nightmare. the DC maxes out at 20k for concerts, etc. 18k for basketball. someone explain this to me. are they just taking deposits and there's a waiting list 6k long? do you start a bidding war? how does this work in other venues? genuinely curious. TIA...
At most, probably only half of those are serious, or will be serious when the time comes to buy them.

I do expect there will be upwards of 10k season tickets sold this year, though.
For a 100 dollar deposit you'll get a lot of interest. The real question comes when the full price is set. For the knights they had some pretty good deals if you signed a 3 year (something like that) commitment for the original season ticket holders.

Here are the prices for the Knights this year. KSL is saying something between 1500 and 15000 per seat.
Thanks for sharing the Vegas prices!

If they’re near that then I’ll follow through with the deposit for sure. Hoping they don’t gouge us to start but Ryan Smith is gonna Ryan Smith sometimes.

I know next to nothing about hockey. Oddly, I've been to an NHL game, and many many USU games. Still haven't taken the time to completely understand it.

Absolutely love the Cutthroat name though. Could be awesome colors/uniforms

I think cutthroats is a perfect name for a baseball team. I doubt it Would fly in a sport where there have been real issues with throats being cut during play. As recently as last year there was an on-ice death because of this.

Just remember you are supporting BYU when you go to Jazz or NHL games now.

Did anyone else put down a deposit? We made a deposit for two season tickets on day one. I’m pretty sure we are going to follow through with it, maybe splitting the season with a co- worker who already has Jazz season tickets. As I talked with him about the plan, I asked him how his wife would react to the idea of adding another 21 games to the 42 they already get with the Jazz.

I have been to three NHL games. The most recent was on the 6th of this month. We were in Montreal to see the eclipse and we got (very expensive nosebleed) tickets to see the Habs play the Maple Leafs. It was an experience sitting near the rafters among drunken Canadians and drunken Canadiens. According to Chat GPT, it’s the fourth-best professional sports rivalry in North America.

I think it should be the Maple Leaves. The Maple Leafs is similar to the idea of naming the new team the Utah Elks. But I digress.

The previous NHL game was in March 2020 in Florida. I was there watching hockey during The Shot. The hockey was fun to see, but I made a poor sports choice that night.

I put down a deposit for 4 tickets. I will probably try and find a few people to split them with if I go through with it. I split two different ticket packages for the Jazz each year so I go to about 30 Jazz games and really don't want to go to 30 hockey games, but I am getting less and less attached to my Jazz tickets so maybe I will add hockey and subtract basketball.

I split tickets for the Knights. It has been a lot of fun. Right now we get about 13 home games each. We are in a group of 3 right now, but we were 4 in the beginning. A group of 3 seems to be the sweet spot.

This post is likely straight up poor sarcasm and cannot be taken seriously.

I would take Mammoth or Hockey Club.

Outlaws screams semi-pro and lame. Blizzard is just copying Colorado. Venom is so bad I can’t even. Ice is just lazy and not creative.

Why would you name a team after the concept of being large?

Mammoths, I could understand, but singular? Absurd.

Mammoths are kinda cool but I hate the color scheme of blue if it is.

I would have been fine with Yeti, but Yetis- idk

I heard a couple people want to pay tribute to Utah’s mining industry. Could you imagine the headlines though playing Nashville?

The color scheme they picked out makes me think it’s Blizzard. Fury is a low blow to me as a Caps fan (our thing is “UNLEASH the FURY!!!!”)

It looks like the young hockey loving Aggie fans have a favorite

I really don't like the Blizzard. It's too close to avalanche, bit at least an avalanche is a powerful dangerous thing. A blizzard is an inconvenience. Not intimidating at all.

Let's clear up the Navajo question: did they or did they not beat the Spaniards to the American SW? Everyone agrees the Pueblos were here first.

Outlaws
Mammoth(s)
Yetis
The others

I'd prefer the name to be something unique, like the Seattle Kraken. I know most don't care, but outlaws and Mammoth are both lacrosse teams in Colorado. Blizzard feels like a copy of avalanche. I don't know of any sports teams called Yeti, but that doesn't feel unique to Utah. Hockey Club is very generic and reminiscent of European soccer. Venom and Fury are kinda lame, IMO. Any callback to the mining industry will feel like a copy of the nuggets, too. I'd prefer the trappers.

I like the Trappers. Nobody cares about those LaCrosse teams. Would still feel new and unique. I love the Mammoth or Mammoths, either one

“Utah Outlaws “ is about as oxymoronic as “Utah Jazz.” I guess if that’s the through line that links the two names it makes sense.

Yeah, I got that — because I’m from Utah. I doubt many who aren’t from Utah will.

Outlaws just sounds like too much of a pro beach hockey team… or xfl. Freaking Web Warriors, mates.

Yeti is by far the worst but most of them are terrible. I could bring myself to cheer for any of them except yeti. It is so lame and childish. It is so bad. Funny that people don't like blizzard because of colorado yet the yeti has been the unofficial/official mascot for the avalanche from the beginning. Yeti is so stupid that it'll probably be it. I've waited my whole life for a hockey team to cheer for, but I don't think I could do it if its yeti.
