The Future of the MWC
Interesting article here
https://www.deseret.com/2024/2/1/240561 ... conference
I didn't realize that the television rights payout per school for the MW is just over half of what the Sunbelt gets. Who brokered that deal? Hopefully when it comes time to negotiate a new TV contract, the MW sells its value as a Mountain and Pacific time zone conference and that provides great value to sports networks needing night time broadcasting options.

You have to remember in that deal since the AAC wanted to claim superiority, their deal is a high number but the conference pays for broadcasting costs which lower that number significantly. With the MW deal all broadcast costs are paid by the broadcaster and have no effect on the conference distribution. Not sure if the sunbelt is configured the same way as the AAC but I believe it likely is.

the new PAC14 will leave the AAC in the dust.AgSpaceCase wrote: ↑February 1st, 2024, 7:53 pmYou have to remember in that deal since the AAC wanted to claim superiority, their deal is a high number but the conference pays for broadcasting costs which lower that number significantly. The sun belt isn’t 8 million per school.
The AAC is 7 mil per school. And like stated above, have to cover production costs.
The sun belt isn’t even a million per school

Re: The Future of the MWC
I think the sun belt is just 8 million or so total. Not per school. Very similar to the payout the WAC got before everyone left.

The MWC plus Oregon State and Washington State will have serious leverage on landing a big media deal.

And once the SEC and Big 10 finally split off we'll be the 2nd best conference in college football. This is also assuming Clemson, Miami and FSU leave the ACC for one of those 2 conferences.

“Develop a comprehensive plan to ensure multiple conference teams are competing for annual berths in the College Football Playoff.”
Just love meaningless comments on goals you can't do anything about from the commissioner's side. Unless they are going to ensure referees make sure to give vital calls to the top teams in the league to ensure the best teams get through the conference schedule with less than 2 losses. Other than that, how you going to ensure one or two dominant football teams in the league don't lose. Silly.
Commissioners gotta commission.
