The nfl is scripted
The good news is that it looks like the packers will be starring in the next chapter.

Seriously. What a boring (I can't express myself without swearing) Super Bowl. SF lucked their asses in to that.
Nah, my Lions are here to stay.

His aggressiveness got us there. If players make a couple plays then we win that going away.

The lions are losing their DC and OC. Plus, they will have a much tougher schedule next season since they finished first place in their division. Packers will have a legitimate shot next year at the Super Bowl.

We are happy to lose our OC, he got too cute in critica moments a lot. I think the DC sticks around, he’s nothing great tbh.EngineeringAggie wrote: ↑January 29th, 2024, 5:57 amThe lions are losing their DC and OC. Re: The nfl is scripted
Not sure they lucked into it. Lions just made too many mistakes. I love how aggressive Dan is but up 14 and with the chance to go up 17 and three scores kick the field goal. Same with being down 3 with 8 minutes to go. Kick the field goal and tie it. Even if San Fran gets another TD the Lions would have had the ball with only being down at worst a TD or possibly a FG. I know the analytics say go for it in those cases but you also have to know the feel of the game.Section_L_Aggie wrote: ↑January 28th, 2024, 7:53 pmSeriously. "Dad, when does the Chiefs game start?" - My 8 year old daughter like 2 months ago. I've never heard her give one care about football before this became a thing.
I'm enjoying the insanity of my wife knowing more about the NFL than I do.

I just don't understand what seems to be so many guys manlihood being challenged by a player's girlfriend. WAGs been getting screen time as long as I can remember - hell, a year ago, they put Brock Purdy's GF on screen and I realized that I know he- she went to HS with my kids, and was one of the VB stars who always smiled and said hi to the crotchety cheer coach. Her brother has been in my house dozens times and is one of my son's best friends -but I digress.....
nobody batted an eye by Jenna being shown on screen - nobody (I can't express myself without swearing) about Juszczyk's GF or CMC's GF being shown -
Stafford's wife a former UGA cheerleader,
Mahomes' Brittnay,
Rivers' wife and 10 kids,
Brady's GISELE,
Romo's Jessica Simpson,
some GB Packer's Simone Biles,
Aaron Rodger's Shianne Woodley,
Wow, a famous woman is watching their boyfriend/husband? I gotta turn it off!!!
\end rant

The networks don’t assume you are interested in seeing Taylor Swift cheer. They are just smart enough to know that millions of new viewers are VERY interested. 30 seconds of free footage to increase viewing by millions seems like a no brainer to me.

Re: The nfl is scripted
Yeah it was the first chiefs game I really watched from start to finish this year. They showed her a few times. It was hardly that much or a distraction from the game. It is a common thing as you point out. Watching the NBA playoffs over the years they always show Steph Curry's wife and parents a few times. Jim harbaughs family was shown during the national title. It isn't a big deal.AGinNEIowa wrote: ↑January 29th, 2024, 7:33 pmI just don't understand what seems to be so many guys manlihood being challenged by a player's girlfriend. I want a picture-in-picture view of Tayor Swift so I can watch both the entire game. Like, sometimes something happens in the game and I'm wondering what Taylor's reaction is, but they don't cut to her. Hopefully they figure this out for the Super Bowl. The ratings would be massive!

I believe that is on ESPN 8 "The Ocho". It may move up to "The Siete" if the ratings take off. It would be awesome if it dethroned the Manning boys on "The Deuce".

Yep. She literally got 44 seconds of air time. But I guess that makes the product on the field “unwatchable”Aggie formerly in Hawaii wrote:Yeah it was the first chiefs game I really watched from start to finish this year. Re: The nfl is scripted
Actually pop singers do attend almost every NFL game. Did you see Eminem flipping off the Chiefs fans this weekend? They usually get a few seconds of screen time as well. Taylor Swift is just more popular, so her presence is more polarizing I guess. And definitely not just pre-teen girls. More like millions of females under 35-40 years old. Obviously not all of them, but millions of them none the less. And will they get sick of football once she is no longer in the picture? Sure, probably. But not until after buying up all the chiefs jerseys and setting a new Superbowl viewing record.Yossarian wrote: ↑January 29th, 2024, 10:28 pmThose pre-teen girls are sure going to be disappointed when they find out pop singers don't attend every football game and the game is just boring guys running around tossing a ball and tackling each other in a game with incomprehensible rules and strategies.

Re: The nfl is scripted
I wouldn't say their presence is polarizing. I don't care if the are at the game or not. I just don't care one way or the other what they do, who they are dating, or how they spend their free time. I tune into a football game to watch football, not pop stars. Evidently I'm the only one. And if the Bears aren't playing, my interest in tuning in drops off considerably. Where the Bears might get 2, maybe 3, game televised nationally in my area - that means I don't have to sit through much NFL football at all.AggiePT wrote: ↑January 30th, 2024, 11:44 amActually pop singers do attend almost every NFL game. Re: The nfl is scripted
I don't turn into games for pop stars, but showing someone for 44 seconds isn't really anything to get worked over. They probably showed Brock Purdy's parents during the 49ers game more than that and don't think anyone thinks they are forcing them on anybody.Yossarian wrote: ↑January 30th, 2024, 11:51 amI wouldn't say their presence is polarizing. Both games were entertaining good games. As someone who usually doesn't watch TV on Sunday, it was an enjoyable Sunday afternoon.
