For now it's a 14 day restraining order on the NCAA enforcing any restrictions on multi-time transfers (meaning, for the next 14 days, all multi-time transfers are immediately eligible). I have no illusions that it will not become permanent eventually.

This is unfortunate... back to the free transfer rules.. added to NIL with the lack of a salary cap... college athletics is now going to be similar to the wild west cattle baron days. kiss it.

Ironically, the solution to all of this is probably what the NCAA resisted for so long which is direct pay to play and give them employee status.

Want a salary cap for NIL, restrictions on transfers, etc.? Then you probably have to treat them as employees.

Of course, there are real downsides to that, but the NCAA getting the best of both worlds forever appears to be over.

So if people can transfer freely at any time, does that mean in basketball they can transfer midseason(end of Fall Semester, before Spring) and be playing on another team right away? That would really be bad for the sport.

Yeah I'm all for player empowerment and think there should be more allowances than there used to be for players transferring without sitting out a year(such as the HC that recruited them leaves for another job or is fired), but we are getting into crazy town now.

The NCAA now says that anyone who plays in these 14 days will lose a year of eligibility if the rule gets reinstated on Dec 27. I'm sure that announcement will go over well for the judge.
