Draymond Green
Is there any guy in the league that can get away with what he gets away with.
Then Steve Kerr never holding him accountable.

He cost his team the 2016 championship with his dirty play. He has really lost a step the last few years and isn't as good. Pathetic they still defend him at every turn. After he assaulted a teammate last year he should have been traded.

Re: Draymond Green
I am a HUGE Steph Curry fan. I love his game, so I have watched DG play many times (unfortunately). The conclusion that I have come to is:
He is simply not mentally tough. I don’t even think he is physically tough. He’s ONLY capable of talking and taking cheap shots when players are most vulnerable. He has a “thug” mentality that doesn’t belong in sports. If he’s willing to do what he does on national television, it wouldn’t surprise me if he is physically or verbally abusive in his home environment. I’m sick of Shaq, SAS, and Steve Kerr standing up for this wannabe of a man.

Yep sports are more fun when you hate the opponent. A reason I'll never understand Aggie fans being fine with the end of the Utah and byu rivalries.

I feel like he’s Jekyll and Hyde. Seems to be a good guy in non-basketball, off court settings. He’s sweet with his kids. Turns into a completely different person and violent player in the court. It would be funny if it weren’t dangerous and disruptive.

Rudy was right, Green doesn't like being exposed when Curry is out. Green has been thrown out 11 times, 7 of them were in games Curry didn't play.

Re: Draymond Green
There was a kid in my son's soccer league the same way. On the pitch he is a menace. He even broke is own player's arm kicking the ball while his teammate was on the ground. Another play he had been shut out the whole game and then juked a single defender, had one-on-one with goalie and scored. He ran back over to the opposing player who he juked and was on the ground, leaned down, and started clapping right in the kid's face. These are 6-8 graders in an intra-mural program the middle school runs. Another time he horse collar tackled a kid from behind using the jersey because he got beat. There was one game he got two reds and a yellow and neither his coach nor the center ref would force him out of the game. Then the ref warned the parents for getting on his case that he was going to hurt someone (it was the next game that he broke his own teammate's arm). Throughout the season (about 12 games) he had 4 red cards (two were from double yellows) and probably averaged close to one yellow card per game, and there were several other times where he should have had more yellows/reds but the ref was looking the other way.nelsentheaggie wrote: ↑November 16th, 2023, 10:11 amI feel like he’s Jekyll and Hyde. I asked my son about it and he said that in school, he is the most quiet, respectful, diligent kid. Gives others compliments, helps other students who are struggling, and overall is just a super nice kid. It is just when he gets on the soccer pitch he becomes evil.

Re: Draymond Green
Sports brings that out of people. I had a friend growing up, who was a quiet nice kid and a straight A student who never caused problems. . . except when it came to sports. He was always getting in fights in gym class and going nuts on people on the court whenever we played pickup games. He hung out with me a few times at USU and he was "that guy" when we played at the Field House. It was funny, because he really was a nice quiet person in any other setting.jpswensen wrote: ↑November 16th, 2023, 11:30 amThere was a kid in my son's soccer league the same way. Re: Draymond Green
The other end of the spectrum can make sports no fun as well. The floppers, ref complainers, whiners.
I once played a pickup basketball game in the hyper. I was defending this guy. He rose up to shoot and I raised my hand. Didn't jump, just held my hand straight and did not move my arm toward him at all. On his follow-through his empty hand made contact with me. "Foul!" he said. This was in a call-your-own fouls game - so he shouldn't be calling my foul. I didn't consider it a foul, so I didn't call it. Everyone thought it was weird. It changed the whole feeling fo the game.
A guy on my son's soccer team spends a ton of time complaining to the ref. He'll stop competing to complain. The player on my son's team is ALSO a ref himself - he should know it doesn't help. Makes me crazy.
Anyway, point is that there are a lot of attitudes in sports that ruin sports. Draymond is a dick. I'd love to have someone cheap-foul him into the hospital.

Re: Draymond Green
At the end of the day its all about the ability of a guy like that to get in other people's heads that keeps them around. I suspect that's why the Warriors keep him around in addition to the other little things he does. To date me, the example I always think of is Rodman getting in Malone's head in those two final years. Rodman was a great player in his own right but his antics with Malone in a couple of games in those games were pretty instrumental in affecting Malone's psych. He may have cost the Warriors a championship but he wouldn't be around if they didn't think he was instrumental in the others.ususports wrote: ↑November 17th, 2023, 12:00 amThat’s awesome that your son played soccer with Koby McEwen. 4-time World Champion.
Talk in the offseason was about the Lakers or the Kings possibly signing him and becoming instant favorites to win the championship.
So far, the good outweighs the bad.

Re: Draymond Green
I think it used to, but don't think it does now. He has lost a step and isn't the defensive stopper he used to be. They shouldn't have given him the contract they did. Klay has also fallen off and isn't what he used to be. This is probably the last year of the Warriors core. They would be crazy to give Klay a big contract this offseason and it wouldn't surprise me if they try and trade Draymond(if they can).

Re: Draymond Green
What a tool. I think he acts this way because he knows he can get a couple of cheap shots in and then the skirmish will get broken up by refs and other players before he gets his a$$ beat. In the 70's, 80's, and 90's everybody would just let you duke it out for a bit. Charles Barkley and every player on the Pistons would have handed Draymond a beating.

It's the whole adage of "play physical early and get the refs to understand it is a physical game, so they'll let you play a bit more." For Draymond it is "be a pos all the time and they'll let you get away with more than others."

Re: Draymond Green
Heard a lot of mediot analysis on the state of the Warriors and Dray yesterday. It's Kerr's last season under contract. The GM has already left. The owner is keeping the big 3 around out of respect for them making him a billionaire. He's not going to treat it as a business. He's taking care of "his guys." One of the takes I heard was from Steve Young. He pointed out that this is the exact opposite of how the Niners did business under Bill Walsh. Montanna, Rice, no contract for you! Thanks for your participation, good luck in the future!
So Looney, Wiggens and Clay Thompson aren't playing well enough to start or more importantly finish games. Clay was benched for the first time in his career last game. It's unknown how he will react. The guy has shown some seriously thin skin lately. Green is actually effective when he's playing, but he's unable (more like unwilling) to stay on the court. Curry is trying to keep things together himself but that can only last so long.
The issues point to the end of the dynasty.

Yeah it really does feel like a "last dance" season for them. They really should have let Draymond walk after last year. Let him go play with his friend Lebron and give Curry another weapon to chase one last ring.El Sapo wrote: ↑December 14th, 2023, 11:05 amHeard a lot of mediot analysis on the state of the Warriors and Dray yesterday.
