I agree. One court, 3 jerseys per team.
But I get it's a money/marketing thing

Re: Nba in-season tournament
I like the idea of an in-season tournament, and I think unique courts to help set those games apart from the rest is smart. But maaaaan those courts suck.

Re: Nba in-season tournament
I'd like to see the neutral sites be during the quaterfinals, semifinals and finals and do it during Thanksgiving weekend. This is too drawn out. They have it in Vegas but I don't think it's a bad idea to consider having international locations (which is why Thursday/Friday of Thanksgiving is important.
Rome, London, Dubai, Melbourne/Sydney, Beijing, Buenos Aires, Munich, Sao Palo, rotate it annually. The timing might be weird but if they make it a big enough party I think they can get a lot off attendance. even for games that would be later at night there. (although late night is more of a US thing)

Re: Nba in-season tournament
The courts looked good in the mock ups but they make my eyes bleed when trying to watch a game on TV. Really hard to see the ball on the red / dark colored courts. Yikes.

Re: Nba in-season tournament
Don't really care about the court or the uniforms. As for the idea of a midseason tournament, I'm fine with it if they increase the stakes. Currently it isn't doing anything to really add value for teams or fans to care. Nobody is going to celebrate at the end of the year "hey we won the midseason tournament!"
They need to guarantee a playoff spot for the midseason winner or if the winner is already in the playoffs give them a better playoff seed. Maybe give them an extra home game in a playoff series. Do something to really incentivize winning this thing. An extra 100 grand or whatever it is doesn't move the needle for fans and probably doesn't for a lot of players.

Re: Nba in-season tournament
They’ve done this in the WNBA for 3 years now. It’s cool incentive for the players, if they so choose to care. WNBA players say they don’t really think of the games differently than regular games. The courts are awful though as are lots of the teams jersey. I could’ve done better and I’m not good with artistic design things.

Autobid to at least the play-in is an interesting idea.Aggie formerly in Hawaii wrote: ↑November 7th, 2023, 8:48 pmDon't really care about the court or the uniforms. Issue here is if a team gets the auto-bid why would they even try the rest of the regular season. rest your stars, tank for a draft pick, and have everyone healthy and rested for a deep playoff run. You can't tell me that wouldn't look attractive for Lebron, Davis, and the Lakers. Or Leonard, George, Harden, and the Clips.
I do agree that there needs to be a better incentive and I dont know what it is. But I think an auto bid would be abused.

Re: Nba in-season tournament
Teams aren't just going to not play because they have an auto spot. Otherwise once teams clinched a playoff spot they would quit playing now. You'd still play to improve your seed and get homecourt. If the midseason tournament has no real value it will not really matter.tysteve20 wrote: ↑November 8th, 2023, 9:24 amImakeitrain wrote: ↑November 8th, 2023, 8:33 amAutobid to at least the play-in is an interesting idea.Aggie formerly in Hawaii wrote: ↑November 7th, 2023, 8:48 pmDon't really care about the court or the uniforms.
