Women's Sports Forum
Just a thought from me this afternoon, and perhaps this isn't warranted due to a general lack of traffic, but I'm curious to know what the mods would think about creating a Women's Sports Forum.
As it stands, Aggie women's sports chatter gets a bit lost in the General Sports Talk forum, amongst baseball talk, Pakistani slap fighting videos, and other general banter.
My (wholly unsolicited) recommendation would be to create a Women's Sports Forum, as Volleyball and Soccer are starting to really take off (and women's basketball is at least very polarizing..ly...bad...).
Thanks mods for all that you do (even if you don't like this idea)!

Because my daughter is a few years into playing comp soccer and volleyball, we have been following both very much this season. I think this would be cool. And since my opinion matters....

Re: Women's Sports Forum
Rather than just singling out women's sports, a forum should include all non- Football/basketball sports, like Track & Field, hockey and baseball.
I also think it would be good to create a forum for pro sports talk, and one for what happens in college sports at schools other that USU.

Re: Women's Sports Forum
At this point in time I'm not sure that there is enough content or enough interest to support creating an entire separate forum. When this site first launched we added Women's Basketball and Volleyball to the schedule page at the request of several users. We worked hard to keep it updated for a few years and one day I checked the Google Analytics for those pages. They were each looked at less than once a week during the season which was drastically less than the Football and Men's Basketball schedules. We decided to quietly remove both sports and it took 2 years before someone even pointed out that Volleyball was all of a sudden missing...I don't know that anyone ever mentioned Women's Basketball being gone.
For me, the way I consume the forum I actually click on the Sports header and browse all of the sports aggregated together and analytics show that I'm not the only one that does this. I'm not sure that breaking Women's sports out into it's own area would really give the content more exposure...in fact it may decrease traffic to those threads. The basketball forum is already generic and can be used for both Men's and Women's while Big Blue's House I feel is a good enough place for the other sports. I'll let @Aglicious chime in if he wants to.

I think here in BBH's is the perfect place for this maybe add it to the description?
Big Blue's House (All other sports besides Football and Men's Basketball, including Women's sports)
Just a thought

On additional thought from me is that I'd be interested to keep up with recruiting for both VB and WSOC, and I don't think that the current layout really supports that (nor do I even know if there's an aggies22 of WSOC - maybe it's simply aggies22), but I understand that I might only be 1 of a very few that would actually care to see it.

There are people connected to some of the high school soccer teams that would know all about which of those girls we have offered.918AGG wrote: ↑October 26th, 2023, 2:54 pmThanks for the feedback, Provo!ProvoAggie wrote: ↑October 26th, 2023, 2:07 pmAt this point in time I'm not sure that there is enough content or enough interest to support creating an entire separate forum. Re: Women's Sports Forum
In a similar vein, I think it would be cool to have a general USU, non sports forum. We talk a lot about usu administration, vet school, cool reseach, rankings. It always seems to end up on big blue forum, but doesn't really fit there, and it REALLY should not go to the sandbox.
I would also appreciate a women's sports forum. If you are choosing to not do it based on analytics from years ago, I would reconsider. It seems that there is much more interest in women's sports at USU now than there ever has been.

Re: Women's Sports Forum
If someone wanted to take up the job of tracking recruiting for those sports we could definitely put some things in place to help them. We're more than happy to create threads that are stickied and allow that to be tracked. I know that tracking that data takes a lot of time and effort and I don't know who that person is. If you're interested in doing it though send a Private Message to either me and Aglicious and we'll be happy to help you get setup to do it.918AGG wrote: ↑October 26th, 2023, 2:54 pmThanks for the feedback, Provo!ProvoAggie wrote: ↑October 26th, 2023, 2:07 pmAt this point in time I'm not sure that there is enough content or enough interest to support creating an entire separate forum. At the end of the day content is what makes any website like this and content takes time. A lot of what makes USUFans great is the content that's shared by the community. We didn't create anything special to track recruiting for sports but we did have individuals reach out about having stickied threads for the sports that are currently there. We do hope to continue making changes and improvement to the site but time is also limited. I reached out to Aglicious about a bunch of ideas I had to revamp this site during the last off season...and at the end of the day I ran out of time and none of it got done. I do still plan on doing it (maybe next off-season).

Since there is an interest, I can see what I can figure out. Re: Women's Sports Forum
Yeah people should post more about Women's sports on here. If someone goes to a game, c'mon on here and post about it. Discuss it like you would a football or basketball game. And if there is enough threads maybe at some point it will get its own forum.ProvoAggie wrote: ↑October 26th, 2023, 2:07 pmAt this point in time I'm not sure that there is enough content or enough interest to support creating an entire separate forum. Re: Women's Sports Forum
When I get on my phone I check BBH, football, and basketball. Usually BBH is the least busy of the three. I love women’s sports updates, but I really don’t want more tabs to click through. I like the format the way it is. But I agree, would be interested in seeing recruiting info on other sports.

@ProvoAggie would it be feasible to add the "sports" header to the hover drop down menu on forums to save a click?

Does anybody know anything about the girls we signed in soccer and volleyball? It’s pretty easy to lookup the player’s stats and rankings in football and basketball, but I have no clue how to do that in volleyball and soccer.

I don't see one for volleyball, which likely indicates they're not done yet. The soccer class looks pretty promising, three kids from the state including one from the valley. A couple of players from Hawaii and one from South Dakota who scored 43(!!) goals as a senior. Gymnastics signed the 22nd ranked class in the nation, and softball has some really intriguing prospects as well including a catcher who flipped from BYU.

Re: Women's Sports Forum
My understanding from soccer is we have three girls from Lone Peak committed. I think they are juniors and friends of our freshman Selina Sellers.
