Volleyball Conference Play

The ladies kick off conference play tonight against an undefeated Wyoming squad. Wyo had a weak non-con schedule, but no losses is no losses. Two tough conference games for us out of the gate, with tonight and then CSU on Saturday. We played well in non-con, had a few games we probably could have played better, but this group is definitely one of the favorites to win the MW again.

Very excited to see conference play get underway. I looked on Massey Ratings and looks like they rated our non con as pretty strong (not super surprising given some of our opponents!). Should be good tests to start. You’re right, Wyoming had a v weak non con but are definitely going to be confident being that they are undefeated. CSU had an even stronger non con ft a top 10 win. Excited to watch these two games!!

Excellent first two wins to start out conference play. We should be in the drivers seat for the regular season conf title if we continue to play like this.

Because they assume that if you care you would look?

Same reason why I wouldn’t go into the football board and say “really disappointing that we got off to a slow start during yesterday night’s game against James Madison, which we lost 45/38”

It was a fun last set to watch (of the women's volleyball game in which they beat New Mexico at UNM, for USU99

). They reeled off something like twelve or 13 points straight to win that thing

Tough loss, Air Force is decent. MW as a whole looks competitive (USU, AF, UNLV, CSU, BSU, UNM all are pretty decent)

that was not a good loss to air force. That was a must win for a top conference team.

A must win? In what sense?

It's a long season. We lost to Air Force last year in four sets and still won the MW and made the NCAA Tournament. We probably should have won, but the league is honestly pretty strong this year and we've got plenty more opportunities for quality wins.

Nevada's volleyball team was awful. Like almost shockingly bad.

They probably should have swept Boise last night, but when they went up 19-12 in the third set looks like they got kind of casual, and allowed Boise to rally to take that set. Then they put the hammer down again the fourth. Great win against a good Boise team.

Picked up a hard-fought win over SDSU at home today. As was mentioned in the other thread, we came back from 2 sets down to beat UNLV Thursday (and we did that by actually pulling our starters for not so great play and our bench players sparked us in that one). Sitting atop the conference with a 9-1 record, on the road next week before a string of four home games at the start of November. Good work ladies.

Four home games in the next week starting tonight. We sit solely in first place with a 3 game lead over second, so barring an epic collapse (knock on wood) we should cruise to the regular season title.

So, how do we make sure to keep Rob around??? We are just running the table. It’s not even close. There are some solid teams in there from 2-5th place but outside of that one fluky loss and the first two sets against CSU last week, I don’t see how we lose.

Make his contract equal to that of the WBB coach. I don't care where they take the money from unless maybe a little if it's MBB.

My guess is it has to do with the basketball game. Trying to squeeze in the Volleyball game at the Estes before everyone heads over to the Spectrum for the basketball game. Also, probably why the basketball game is at 7:30 and not 7:00.

Oh, that makes sense - I read the schedule as AT boise - not VS boise.
