Commanders new mascot

Not a fan of the "Commanders" as a name. Super lame - and too many syllables.

Three other teams have a three syllable name, but they have good shortened names to substitute.
Buccaneers = Bucs
Cardinals = Cards
Patriots = Pats

If you say Jaguar the British way it sounds like three syllables, but it's a cat from the American continent so the proper pronunciation is only two syllables. Plus Jags is good too.

Commanders? What's the short for that? It's a stupid name for a sports team.

Does Washington DC ever do anything anymore that makes any sense? That mascot sums up that city.

For the record, we are what? 3 years into the Commanders experiment. Living in DC I have never seen anyone wearing any Cammanders swag. Sure see a lot of those racist Redskins fans though...

I like a lot of players on the team, and the head coach.

Too bad their organization is rotten. I hope they get cleaned up.

There is a bit out here in the suburbs. Like every now & then I'll see a "Washington Football Team" shirt and I've seen a commanders shirt a few times (but the commanders themselves are just this season. WFT for prior 2 seasons)

I still think they should have named them the Washington Parasites, with a giant blood sucking leech as the mascot.

Apparently it’s so cartoonish because the commanders have almost no support from young fans. The hope being an overly cartoonish mascot may help attract young fans so that the team has stability long term.

I can see that. Like kids don’t really go to commanders games. And neither do very many adults.

Why don't they call themselves the Hogs? That's what the mascot represents, the "Hog" offensive line. No need to shorten it because it's too many syllables for football fans and it represents the pig owner. Win-win

fairfax county resident here. been here 7 years. i see commanders gear all the time.
