I don't think he's any good. One dimensional. I wish we played them next year

Indifference is how I feel.
Maybe partial to failure, but I really don’t care about the recruit

They’re going to win 3 games max

Re: Slovis to YBU
They have picked up a QB that they not only BEAT but he is a failed two-time P5 transfer and they expect him to lead them into the BIG-12. Cool.

Slovis to YBU
It’ll be interesting to see how their Big12 schedule lands. They have 2 near guaranteed wins in the non-con (SUU & SHSU) and then likely have 1-2 games against the new teams (Houston, UCF, Cincy), which aren’t going to be great. The Big12 had a strong bottom this season but the Kittens are capable of beating 1-2 of them at home. I doubt they go bowling but I could see them win 4-5 total.Bullnamed_gus wrote:They’re going to win 3 games max

Re: Slovis to YBU
I don’t think BYU will be favored in any games outside of SUU/SHSU. Houston might be a chance for a W if they play them, but that’s the only team in the Big 12 next year that they might beat. But Houston just had an awesome recruiting class come in so they might not even be a W.AGGIEinIOWA wrote: ↑December 25th, 2022, 9:02 pmIt’ll be interesting to see how their Big12 schedule lands. Re: Slovis to YBU
We're not playing BYU for the foreseeable future so this move for Slovis doesn't pertain to us in any way, shape, or form.

Re: Slovis to YBU
He had a good first year at USC and has been progressively worse since then. He transferred to Pitt this season (at least I think it was Pitt) and flamed out after a year. He might’ve gotten benched too.

Re: Slovis to YBU
It's crazy how often players jump from team to team these days. It seems to be becoming the norm for players to play on 3 or 4 teams during their college career.

Re: Slovis to YBU
If I’m a pro scout, transferring many times would be noted. And the type of player transferring that many times is probably not a consensus first rounder.treesap32 wrote: ↑December 29th, 2022, 11:35 amIt's crazy how often players jump from team to team these days. Re: Slovis to YBU
I think Slovis has bigger problems that pertain to actual football in the eyes of NFL scouts than his transfers. As is the case for most guys who transfer down multiple times like him and JT Daniels.Imakeitrain wrote: ↑December 31st, 2022, 3:35 pmIf I’m a pro scout, transferring many times would be noted. Re: Slovis to YBU
That is somewhat my point. If you’re a sure thing in the NFL you’re likely to not even be in college long enough to continually transfer. You find your team succeed. Maybe you transfer once for either a better fit or because you’re that good. But then you’re off to the league.aggieborn wrote: ↑January 6th, 2023, 7:51 amI think Slovis has bigger problems that pertain to actual football in the eyes of NFL scouts than his transfers. Those that transfer a bunch are probably at best marginal players in the league. (Slovis is not ‘at best’).
Now if a scout is looking at UDFAs it’s not that he wouldn’t sign a dude that transferred twice but it would be something to be noted. It could raise a few questions and concerns.
Those marginal players generally need to show they’re grinders, no? I don’t think overusing the transfer portal will send that message
