Saying "I hope you have a better shooting night" is not even that negative.
Can we fire her yet?

But hey they beat Fresno State in Fresno. So that's cool. Looks like hoping that they have a better shooting night paid off.

Re: USU Women's Bball
Right? I get the sense this coach is a little defensive. Why do we never hear from her after losses? I know plenty of programs require their coaches to do a press conference after home games, win or lose. But she isn’t held to that standard.LarryTheAggie wrote: ↑January 17th, 2023, 6:07 amWow.Aggie_Watch wrote: ↑January 17th, 2023, 12:44 amSo apparently I have heard from others that if they have made any comments on WBB Instagram that could be taken as a negative comment they block their comments from showing up. Honestly, I don’t even care they won at Fresno. I don’t think they’ll win much more, and I think this coach is the issue. I hope she’s shown the door after this year, because I think that’s what’s necessary for this program to have the potential to grow.

Re: USU Women's Bball
Was just thinking about the transfer issues, I noticed in October they lost their mostly highly touted transfer- a girl who came from Texas Tech or Texas A & M I believe. Can anyone speak to why she would’ve left just a month before the season? what the heck is going on on the inside?stang wrote: ↑January 13th, 2023, 1:04 pmI understand that roster turnover is becoming more and more common in college sports, but that's often because players are trying to transfer up. Here's where the 10 players who left last year's squad ended up -aggie276 wrote: ↑January 12th, 2023, 9:49 pmDo you know of an explanation for the roster and staff turnover? Because surely a turnover of 10 players leaving and all 3 assistants leaving isn’t typical.treesap32 wrote: ↑January 11th, 2023, 2:08 pmAll I know is, when I posted a unbiased article talking about the program and sharing her contract details, the tweet that was sent out got some responses from former coaches and reactions from former players that weren't good.
It's a shame because I was excited about the charisma and excitement that Ard brought to the program. It has not translated into wins or sustainability for coaches and players at all.
Kamalu Kamakawiwole - Transferred to Hawaii-Hilo
Meagan Mendazona - Transferred to UT-Tyler
E'Lease Stafford - Transferred to UMKC
Amit Lustgarten - Transferred to Los Angeles Trade-Tech
Faith Brantley - Quit midseason last year and appears to be done with basketball
Manna Mensah - Transferred to UMKC
Kaylin Randhawa - Transferred to Sacramento State
Shyla Latone - Transferred to Cal State Fullerton
Halle Nelson - Transferred to Utah Valley
Adryana Quezada - Transferred to San Diego State
Not even to mention the coaches who left and the DOBO who quit just days before the season started last year.
That list makes it pretty clear that players were just trying to get out. The culture of the program has gone from poor to nonexistent.

Re: USU Women's Bball
The USU women just lost to 2-15 (0-6) San Jose State by 18 points. San Jose state was 301 in the NET and one of the worst shooting teams in the entire country, and they shot 54% against USU.
So how soon can we get a new coach???

Re: USU Women's Bball
I think San Jose is better coached than us, I looked up their coach and though she’s never been a head coach she was recently an assistant at Texas and Arizona, two very successful programs.
Nonetheless, if Ard wants to prove she’s made any progress she cannot lose games like this one against teams that are 2-15 or something. she came in as an unproven head coach. And is still an unproven head coach.

Agree to disagree. Nothing about a mass exodus of players and staff and losing tons of games and net rankings in the 300s screams proven to me. But some people will defend her to the end…
…fwiw, I talked with an athlete who transferred. And this person did not have a positive experience. And it was a coaching issue.

I think that was his point. Pretty sure he was not defending her. I read it as "she has proven that she cannot do the job."aggie276 wrote: ↑January 25th, 2023, 10:51 amAgree to disagree. Ah gotcha. I must have read it too quickly. Hey maybe if Hartwell gets a new job, he will hire her there? Re: USU Women's Bball
I've watched a few of the games on the MW Network. This might not be the worst idea. I think any girl with any athletic ability could fit in with the current roster. They don't move, they don't have court awareness. It's like watching a girls Jr. Jazz team.Yossarian wrote: ↑January 16th, 2023, 6:32 pmIf they are not going to try and field a competitive team, can they just target wealthy potential donors to the athletics program with daughters that play high school basketball, regardless of ability, and say their daughters have a roster spot if they want to play college basketball.

Re: USU Women's Bball
This is why I will never have any sympathy for coaches when they lose games. They have it made. Make a bunch of money. Make more when they are successful. That's ok. Make a bunch to be fired when they stink. Poor sad multi-millionaires. At least when fans show their "true colors" they aren't getting paid to do it like coaches.

Re: USU Women's Bball
Fun game for most of it. The ladies played really well in the first half and then Wyoming went into a zone and we had a hard time scoring from that point on. We lost the rebound battle by a long shot so they got a ton of offensive rebounds. And at the end they hit free throws!! I counted about 200 people including the band.

8 points in the forth... ouch...
The USU athletic page used to retreat the results of the games, even losses. They have stopped doing that. That is pretty sad.

Re: USU Women's Bball
I didn’t feel like Wyoming was that much better. They were bigger but not better. We were so set on running an offense that we forgot to play ball. We would start a drive and forget how to finish.

Re: USU Women's Bball
Wyoming has been inconsistent but they were more physical, more fit, and had a higher basketball iq with better coaching to boot. How did we only scored 16 points in the ENTIRE second half?
We were out toughed, out hustled, out coached. Wyoming (and a lot of teams in this conference) have a toughness that we simply do not have.

Re: USU Women's Bball
Is the criticism unwarranted though? A 4-16 team, blew an 18 point lead (another blown lead) this is the coaches 3rd year (not her first); she couldn’t keep anyone around - players OR staff after last year. It really does feel like that’s where the problems start.QuackAttackAggie wrote: ↑January 26th, 2023, 9:09 pmYou don't say

Re: USU Women's Bball
Looking at our schedule so far... brutal. The good news (not really) is that we went .500 with in state rivals, and only losing to the why by 10 points. The bad, we got KILLED by... Utah Tech???? OH man. And now we've got 1 conference win so far. wow, yes very underwhelming.

Re: USU Women's Bball
USU got up by 18 points last night midway through the second quarter, 33-15, then proceeded to score just 19 points and shoot 6-of-28 over the next 24 minutes.
Simply pathetic. It's not just coaching, it's coaching, talent, leadership, strategy, and overall lack of give a sh*t. Burn it to the ground and start over.
