Aztec Beer
Alright, when we getting our own beer?
Hmm, maybe we should start a brew college. It takes agriculture to make beer, hops don't grow themselves. Makes perfect sense. Set up shop next to the creamery. I can see it now....mmmm, beer.

We'd do better getting our own soft drink.

Re: Aztec Beer
Call it Big Blue and have it be blue raspberry flavored (which I learned is just raspberry flavored, but they made up "blue raspberry" because strawberry had already cornered the market on red).

Re: Aztec Beer
There are so many breweries down here that Alesmith is not one that I've tried, and I've tried a lot of San Diego area beers. Can't USU get Squatters, Uinta or Wasatch to create a Aggie Blue ale? How about that Squatters Double IPA with the farmer dude on the front, just put Big Blue holding a pitchfork with a giant hop on it? LOL

Alesmith makes one of my favorite beers, it is called .394. Named after Tony Gwynns bating average the strike shortened year. So good!

There's information about how to grow hops from USU.

Re: Aztec Beer
When I heard there was a hop shortage last year I surveyed our family ranch in S. Central Utah as a potential place to grow them... turns out, not so easy to grow hops in the US-SW... great for cattle grazing thoughNowhereLandAggie wrote: βAugust 21st, 2022, 1:09 pmThere's information about how to grow hops from USU.

I knew some dude from Montana or something I think they grew a lot of the stuff that goes in beer.ViAggie wrote: βAugust 21st, 2022, 8:27 pmWhen I heard there was a hop shortage last year I surveyed our family ranch in S. Re: Aztec Beer
Most of the barley grown by LDS farmers in Southern Idaho is bought by Beer Companies in the US. You can do hops also in a lot if places.ViAggie wrote: βAugust 21st, 2022, 8:27 pmWhen I heard there was a hop shortage last year I surveyed our family ranch in S. I have and will never touch it, but as the article says, I don't think people are bad.

Reminds of another joke. I drive an older car. It just turned 21. Should I fill it with ethanol now?

Re: Aztec Beer
I think I'd have a better chance at opening up a winery than a growing hops at the family ranch. Barely is certainly an option, but we have a hops shortage, not a barley shortage.NowhereLandAggie wrote: βAugust 22nd, 2022, 12:26 pmMost of the barley grown by LDS farmers in Southern Idaho is bought by Beer Companies in the US. Re: Aztec Beer
Funny that Brocs would get rebranded Lucky Larger beer LOL I guess Micky's and Colt 45 couldn't make it work.
