Utah men's basketball
Craig is really struggling at Utah. Lost to a very bad Oregon State team and tonight lost to a not good Washington team. They were up 14 points in the 2nd half and lost. Going to be a long conference season from Craig.

Re: Utah men's basketball
Watched as a UW fan (the school, not necessarily the team), and was surprised by how completely empty the Huntsman Center looked. Is that normal?

And that's just the lower bowl. They draped of the upper bowl a few years ago to make it look more full.

May the U always struggle, but particularly with Smith at the helm.

They claim 6,900 fans at that game. Maybe it filled up late or maybe that's a stretch.ProvoAggie wrote:It's pretty close honestly.AggieFBObsession wrote:Does UVU get more fans at their games than Utah?ProvoAggie wrote: ↑January 6th, 2022, 11:38 pmAnd that's just the lower bowl. Re: Utah men's basketball
I watched a game. I do miss the Craig Smith play everyone approach and very aggressive on the rebounds. Smith's Utah team lacks the forwards to keep it going in the game, and I would say Quinn Taylor could have been starting on that Utah team.
Re: Utah men's basketball
I didn't think they would be good this year, but I didn't have them losing to a horrible Missouri team, a horrible Oregon St. team, and one of the worst team by far in the PAC 12 Washington.... at home. Wow.

Craig Smith saying he wants the basketball team to take after the football team and then blowing a 14-point second half lead just like the football team blew a 14-point second half lead is just *chef's kiss*

Even we'd beat udah this year ;-)
I've said this before, I was a student at the U for two years, never stepped foot in the Chemical Center until the day I graduated. I was like "woah what's this place?" LOL

Slamming on the U for losing at home to a P5 school when we lost to UC Davis at home.

Re: Utah men's basketball
Until today UC Davis was actually ranked in NET quite a bit above Washington. They have home losses this year to Northern Illinois (303), Winthrop (188), and Utah Valley. UVU blew them out.FeartheFro wrote: ↑January 7th, 2022, 10:25 amSlamming on the U for losing at home to a P5 school when we lost to UC Davis at home.

Re: Utah men's basketball
I'ts been years since I was at a game at the Huntsman Center. The games I attended there were just so lifeless. It was a bunch of white-haired men with their outdated red sweaters accompanied by their wives with too much makeup and jewelry on. They would have fit better at a Glenn Miller concert than a basketball game.

I understand that Utah is not good and can’t deny I’m quite happy about it. Just seemed strange mocking a school for a bad home loss. Re: Utah men's basketball
This year was always going to be terrible for Utah, but the future doesn't look bright either. He has no commitments for next season and has been a loser in recruiting; Collin Chandler to byu, Zach Keller to Wake Forest, Jaxon Koehler to Michigan State, etc. . .
Krysto had a terrible first season at Utah, but his first full recruiting class was pretty good and his second was even better that set up their Sweet Sixteen run. Smith just isn't a good recruiter and he won't have success at Utah because of it.

Re: Utah men's basketball
The huntsman center is a terrible home court. It is especially bad if you can't get fans to the game. If you were told to build a neutral court that's what you would create. Honestly it is one of the worst out there. I remember liking the video board a lot of years ago when we played there but after that it had zero redeeming quality.

Re: Utah men's basketball
I agree all the seats seem like they are angled oddly and you’re forever away from the court even in close seats. Is it a good venue for gymnastics at least?pilotaggie wrote:The huntsman center is a terrible home court. It is especially bad if you can't get fans to the game. Re: Utah men's basketball
The reason I want it to not work out with Smith at Utah is that it being a disaster with him there would traumatize them enough to not want to take a coach from here again, especially if we don't get any NCAA wins out of him, and maybe even if we DO get some NCAA wins. Just as, though it's a different sport, the one school we were always safe from losing Blake Anderson to, and will be safe from for a while, is Texas Tech cause of how traumatized they are by Wells. A few Aggie fans went as far as, even though it was 20 years ago, using Dave Arslanian as a reason to not want us to hire Jay Hill.
OTOH, Smith does well enough to go somewhere bigger, they think they can go after our guy again for a second time if it works out well the first time.
