You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

If the whole planned BC campus gets built, it'll be a real gem.

Fun fact: when word came that the BIA was just going to walk away and abandon everything to the city, my father put together a plan for the city to commit to a BC Community College with special emphasis on mechanical and tech, since IIS had world-class physical facilities.

City passed. He approached the state for a JC.

State passed. He approached the Church.

Church passed. City then decided to auction off the stuff, and carve up the real estate.

What a missed opportunity.

That is interesting.. Thanks for sharing. I remember the IIS; it really was a missed opportunity. Too bad your father wasn't successful in better utilization of those resources.

Well, he was in adult ed admin by that point. Only so much he could do. The money wasn't interested in long-term solutions to the problem. At least USU has some vision here. Here are the site plans for those interested:

Two quick things IIS related. My dad helped build IIS. Well, actually the evac/rehab hospital that eventually became IIS. Between graduation from USU (USAC at the time), and starting medical school at the U, he bribed a carpenter's union shop steward to give him a journeyman carpenter's card.

I remember competing against IIS in track in high school. They killed us in everything from the 880 up.

I remember getting slaughtered along with the rest of my intramural basketball team by those guys. They just kept throwing up really long js from way outside while we kept praying for rebound chances (there were none - they never missed). Tall geeky and defense minded got absolutely roasted.

Intermountain still has a few state records because of the switch to metric.
