Go Giants! But seeing as how they are going to suck again this year, I want the Padres to knock off the Dodgers. I think the NL East is going to be brutal division and whoever comes out on top over there will be WS champs.

Every opening day I wish I cared about baseball. Every year I try and every year I lose interest within a week.

It is a good day. One of the two best days of the year:
Opening Day
The day the New York Yankees are eliminated
Those are two good days.

Re: Happy Opening Day!! CAUTION baseball related content in this thread
It is funny. They say baseball isn't as popular with young people and the average baseball fan is older than other sports. For me it has been the opposite. I was huge into baseball as a kid. When the strike happened in 94 I was devastated. Even long gone players like Ruth, Gehrig, Cobb, etc. . ., I would obsessively read about them. I watched the Ken Burns baseball documentary over and over at an age where other kids were let's just say not. But yeah, as I've gotten older, I'm about where you are. I get excited for opening day and then don't watch much until the playoffs. Maybe our brains can only handle so many things and my focus is far more on basketball and football both college and pro.thegreendalegelf wrote: ↑April 1st, 2021, 8:48 amEvery opening day I wish I cared about baseball. Re: Happy Opening Day!! CAUTION baseball related content in this thread
I was excited to see my Baltimore Orioles lose 100 games this year and get another high draft pick position on their road to rebuilding (2023 - watch out!). My excitement was damped when I see the first game of the season against Boston, Opening Day mind you, was "postponed". Such is the life of an Orioles fan. Oh well.
I did see a clip of Miguel Cabrera hitting the first home run of the year - in a snow storm.

Once you guys fired Cal Ripken Sr 6 games into just his second season, I have celebrated your failure. You did the Iron Man's father dirty!Yossarian wrote: ↑April 1st, 2021, 12:43 pmI was excited to see my Baltimore Orioles lose 100 games this year and get another high draft pick position on their road to rebuilding (2023 - watch out!). (Did I say I was a Cardinals fan?) yep, as an 8 year old boy I cheered for my hero, Stan Musial

My Orioles shut out the Red Sox in Fenway in their opener today. Got 7 innings of 1-hit shut-out ball from the starter. A beautiful pitching performance.

Fellow Cardinals fan here. I am straight giddy about having Goldy and Arenado. If Carlson has a breakout year, look out.mcaggie1 wrote: ↑April 2nd, 2021, 5:31 pm1. My Cardinals winsam tingey wrote: ↑April 2nd, 2021, 9:41 amBest part of opening day?

The greatest sports speech ever by James Earl Jones. Meanwhile, my season is over before it begins as I am a Rockies fan.
