Re: Holy Utah Jazz
Good win tonight to hopefully end a bit of a skid. Despite losing 4 of 6, they are still in 1st place by 2.5 games, which is all that matters.
Bogey has been atrocious the past few games, but he looked better in the 2nd half tonight.

Re: Holy Utah Jazz
One play last night demonstrated how much Rudy Gobert means to this team and just how good of a defender he is.
There were about 10 minutes left in the game, and the Jazz are up by 4. The Celtics manage to get Gobert switched onto Jaylen Brown, one of the best young wings in the game. Brown can get to the hoop off the dribble against almost anyone in the league in a one-on-one situation. This is exactly what NBA teams want on the pick and roll - a big defender switched onto a defensive island against a quick athletic wing. The Celtics immediately recognize the mismatch, and run an isolation play where the four other Celtics move to the right side of the floor. In most situations, this would result in a great shot at the basket for Brown. Here's what happens next:
That, folks is why he is the best defender in the world. And perhaps the best part? Rudy runs the floor immediately after the block and gets the alley-oop. Perfection.

Re: Holy Utah Jazz
Another poor defensive performance from the Jazz. Beal and Westbrook did whatever they wanted all night. They are showing to be a pretty average road team.

Re: Holy Utah Jazz
I didn't see the game, but listened to the first half while stuck in traffic. Bad loss. Bogey needs to figure out what the problem is, Mitchell is shooting too much, the ball is sticking more than it did before, and Clarkson is slumping a bit. They'll get it figured out, but they have had a few frustrating losses lately.

Re: Holy Utah Jazz
Not sure what's going on with the Jazz. Beal and Westbrook are good, but the Jazz should not be losing to the Wizards.

Re: Holy Utah Jazz
Mitchell showing he does have the clutch gene. Both tonight and in Boston he has made some big plays down the stretch. Hope to see it continues. Happy to see Brooklyn lose. Jazz need to make sure they'll have homecourt in the finals if they play them. By that point, it will likely be a full venue.

Jazz get a nice win over the JV Nets tonight after destroying the Bulls the other night. Good to see them back in their dominant fashion even if it is not against the NBA's best.

Looks like a rough night shooting for Clarkson tonight. 1-15 from the field, including 1-11 from 3.

Re: Holy Utah Jazz
Clarkson has been struggling for a while. He's shooting 29% from 3 and 33% overall for the month of March. It's pretty terrible.

Is the that part of the reason the jazz have not been winning as much?brownjeans wrote: ↑March 25th, 2021, 12:43 pmClarkson has been struggling for a while. We need him to get back on track.

Re: Holy Utah Jazz
Yes, PART of the reason. The second unit is getting killed and Jordan uses most of the offensive possessions with that group.slcagg wrote: ↑March 25th, 2021, 12:46 pmIs the that part of the reason the jazz have not been winning as much?brownjeans wrote: ↑March 25th, 2021, 12:43 pmClarkson has been struggling for a while. Bogey and Niang have been in a slump as well - but they both played well last night. The Jazz have been trying to go one-on-one too much the past 10 games too. They play best when they're sharing the ball (lots of passes).

Re: Holy Utah Jazz
It looks like the Jazz picked up another 3-point shooter in Matt Thomas (Iowa State, Spanish League, then Toronto). He looks like he can shoot it. Crazy how they are stockpiling deep shooting threats.

A good win tonight. Good for Conley and Bojan to show up without Mitchell. This is a game they could have easily dropped and did what great teams do and found a way to win.

Re: Holy Utah Jazz
Worst loss of the season by the Jazz. Really need to get the defense dramatically improved by the playoffs. The offense is as good as anybody, but you cannot let the opposing teams guards carve you up and do whatever they want like what happened tonight.

Re: Holy Utah Jazz
Hopefully Bojan is back on track.
I tend to think when the defense struggles, it's due to effort. A regular wake-up call is fine with me as long as we keep the 1 seed.

Yeah things not looking good early. Down 31-16 to OKC. Freaking Dort. I sadly saw him have a big game against USU in Vegas in 2018 and he is killing the Jazz right now with 18 points in the first quarter.QuackAttackAggie wrote: ↑April 13th, 2021, 1:33 pmO'Neale and Ingles are out tonight and probably Clarkson

Yeah now up 24 in the 4th. More than turned it around since their bad 1st quarter.

Re: Holy Utah Jazz
The Jazz have been the best 3rd quarter team in the league, by a country mile. Locke was saying they're plus 15 in the third, the next best team is plus 8.

Yep. It is a lot of fun to watch when they break away close games and turn them into a route after the 3rd quarter. Tonight is an example of this, but their 3rd quarter the other night in their win against Portland after being down at the half was a thing of beauty.3rdGenAggie wrote: ↑April 13th, 2021, 10:35 pmThe Jazz have been the best 3rd quarter team in the league, by a country mile. Re: Holy Utah Jazz
I don't know the game well enough to really follow the strategies, etc., but I have to imagine a lot of the credit goes to Quin and the coaching staff. They're clearly making excellent halftime adjustments and the players are implementing them well.Aggie formerly in Hawaii wrote: ↑April 13th, 2021, 11:13 pmYep. Re: Holy Utah Jazz
Best case scenario is that he'll miss a handful of games. As such, I fully expect the Jazz lose the 1 seed. Although losing the 1 seed may not be the worst thing depending on if you'd rather see the Clippers or Lakers in the second round.

Thank goodness. I initially thought it was a knee injury and my heart sank. An ankle could still be really bad news if it keeps him out through the first round of the playoffs and the Jazz drop a few spots before then, but you're right. If it's only a 2-3 week thing Utah should still be in a pretty good spot.tysteve20 wrote: ↑April 16th, 2021, 2:51 pmJust announced its a sprain. Nothing torn or broken. Re: Holy Utah Jazz
The Sun's have a really tough schedule coming up over the next couple of weeks. I don't think the Jazz will lose the 1 seed, but they will need Donovan to get back ASAP. The Jazz actually play pretty well without one of their main guys (including Donovan).
