Re: Holy Utah Jazz
He knows that you don't win a 7 game series in game 1 or 2. On the other hand, Jazz just had 2 games where they could have put the Clippers in a bad place. That's my point, they didn't get it done. Couldn't finish off the Clippers when they had the advantage.brownjeans wrote: ↑June 14th, 2021, 12:12 pmWhere was Leonard's gear change in games one and two?El Sapo wrote: ↑June 14th, 2021, 8:32 amProbably see another back to the wall game by the Clips tonight. Going back to Utah even at 2-2 isn't the worst thing that could happen. Jazz plays like they are still a young team IMHO. Reminds me of the Warriors trying to advance before their championship run. They don't seem to have learned how to finish teams off. There are points in the game where winners change gears. Leonard knows when to do it. Can Mitchell?

Re: Holy Utah Jazz
The Jazz need Conley back. They need him to take some of the playmaking load off of Mitchell, and send Ingles back to the second unit. The Jazz second unit has struggled, but they have been pretty good all year. We just need Niang et al to start hitting their shots.
And Gobert needs to be more of a factor offensively.

Re: Holy Utah Jazz
I thought Gobert was going to have a really solid series offensively. When Zubac is off the court the Clippers don't have any size. Maybe Conley's absence is hurting his ability to roll to the rim as well.Mr. Sneelock wrote: ↑June 15th, 2021, 10:56 amThe Jazz need Conley back. Gorbert scoring misses conleys playmaking. Conley is a huge hole right now.3rdGenAggie wrote: ↑June 15th, 2021, 11:01 amI thought Gobert was going to have a really solid series offensively. The jazz have been very unfortunate with pg injuries in the playoffs the last 5 years or so. First George hill, then Ricky and now Conley. And this year may the hurt the most because this thing is more winnable for them than in the past.

I understand the cautious approach to this injury, but if we don’t see him in game 5 then this season really will be over.

Yeah it was much worse than they initially let on. Hope he comes back, but at this point I'm not expecting him back in this series.SwaggieAggie wrote: ↑June 15th, 2021, 11:52 amI understand the cautious approach to this injury, but if we don’t see him in game 5 then this season really will be over.

Re: Holy Utah Jazz
Conley sprains his hamstring every few months and it's at least 2 weeks every time. We're probably getting close to the 2 week mark, but I don't think we're there yet. I'll be surprised if we see him before the Conference Finals (if the Jazz were to make it).

Re: Holy Utah Jazz
Yeah unfortunately he has been a very injury prone player in his 30's. His second to last year in Memphis he missed the season and has missed huge chunks of games ever since. Would love to have him, and I hope he comes back plays great and I have to eat my words for what I'm about to say, but I've moved into the camp that the Jazz should look elsewhere this Summer. I just don't trust his health for a massive contract(if they could even afford what he'll ask with the Gobert/Mitchell/Bogey contracts.3rdGenAggie wrote: ↑June 15th, 2021, 5:24 pmConley sprains his hamstring every few months and it's at least 2 weeks every time. My fear with that is how much money they'll have to replace him. At least with Conley they have bird rights...but as I said above, the best ability is availability.Aggie formerly in Hawaii wrote: ↑June 15th, 2021, 5:46 pmYeah unfortunately he has been a very injury prone player in his 30's. Re: Holy Utah Jazz
Rudy can either put on his superhero cape and save the Jazz or he'll end up wearing the horns. It looked like his feet we stuck in concrete when they tried to get him the ball in game 4. One of the other players could step up, but the expectation is higher for Rudy. With the expectations comes the responsibility.

The must win just got easier, but that almost makes it more of a must win. The Bucks blew it last night with Kyrie out (although Harden was back he had a horrible game).

If that's the case they need to finish this series up in the next 2 games. Chris Paul is out for 10 days with COVID protocol.

Wow that’s crazy about Paul. He isn’t positive right? Didn’t lebron have a similar situation and not miss any time?

Well as long as Paul George doesn't have a49 point triple double on 16 of 23, the Jazz should win tonight.3rdGenAggie wrote: ↑June 16th, 2021, 8:27 amThe must win just got easier, but that almost makes it more of a must win. Huge break for the Jazz today with the Kawhi and CP3 news. Wow.

I saw some discussion that kawhi kind of limped off towards the end of game 4. Must have been somewhat serious.

Oof...if it's a tear that would mean he's out for most or all of next season as well.

Re: Holy Utah Jazz
Sure didn't look like much contact. And he didn't go to the floor. My guess is that he's been dealing with it all season. I think we see him back dominating play in game 6.3rdGenAggie wrote: ↑June 16th, 2021, 12:06 pmOof...if it's a tear that would mean he's out for most or all of next season as well.
With Leonard out, Clips don't have the expectations or the pressure, and will play with "appropriate fear" (Steve Kerr's words). Jazz will need to fight against complacency.

Such is the life of a Jazz fan. I figured this year would be their best shot (I doubt they'll have Conley going forward and won't have money to replace him.)
Very disappointing.

Re: Holy Utah Jazz
Honestly. I half blame the training staff for not letting Don play in Game 1 against Memphis. Conley would have fewer minutes and they would have had more time to rest before this series. There's a chance he doesn't re-injure his hammy.

Re: Holy Utah Jazz
Credit to George for coming through in a big road playoff game for them. I joked that he would need to play like Kevin Durant did last night for the Clippers to win. He wasn't quite that good, but he wasn't far off. He played like an absolute superstar tonight in a hostile environment with a crowd that hates him. Very tough loss for the Jazz, especially with Kawhi out and the basketball Gods seeming to be blessing the Jazz with that and the CP3 situation.
And yeah Mitchell looked as bad as he has all playoffs. He airballed 3 straight 3's. That doesn't happen unless his injury is seriously affecting him.

Re: Holy Utah Jazz
One thing that bothered me tonight was how reliant the Jazz were on the 3 point shot even when it clearly wasn't falling in the 3rd quarter. I know it is hard to get out of your system, but your shot isn't falling and you have a team going small ball without a center and you still settle for bad 3 after bad 3? The Jazz took 54 out of their 80 shots from 3 tonight. That is more than 2/3 of their overall shot total being deep balls against a team not playing a center. Other than the great first quarter, the shots weren't falling. After missing 10 straight 3's in the 3rd, maybe be more aggressive and start attacking the hoop!

Re: Holy Utah Jazz
I still think the Jazz should have rested Mitchell for Game 3. They had 2-0 game lead and they knew the Clippers were going to come out firing at home. There was a very good chance they were going to lose. Mitchell had just come back from an able injury and played a lot of hard minutes against Memphis and the first two games against LA. Why not rest that ankle instead of push it? It will only get worse as the playoffs continue.
