Re: Holy Utah Jazz
Yeah he was out a few games earlier and they did fine. Sucks for him to get injured, but it isn't the end of the world to have him out a few weeks.Mr. Sneelock wrote: ↑April 16th, 2021, 3:12 pmThe Sun's have a really tough schedule coming up over the next couple of weeks. I don't think the Jazz will lose the 1 seed, but they will need Donovan to get back ASAP. The Jazz actually play pretty well without one of their main guys (including Donovan).
The Jazz play the Lakers with The Brow possibly returning, but then play the Rockets, the Twolves twice, the Kings, Suns, Raptors, Spurs twice, Nuggets and Rockets. Besides the Suns, that is still a stretch where every game is winnable even without Mitchell.

I really think the Jazz are locks for 3 of the major awards. I don't know how Quin Snyder doesn't win coach of the year, Gobert doesn't win Dplayer of the year and Clarkson 6th man of the year. They all should win and win comfortably.

If Clarkson were to have a challenger, it would be Joe Ingles. That guy is amazing.

Unless Phoenix tanks the rest of the regular season, Monty Williams will challenge Snyder for COTY and may win it.Aggie formerly in Hawaii wrote: ↑April 20th, 2021, 3:58 pmI really think the Jazz are locks for 3 of the major awards. I don't think Snyder will win coach of the year, and Simmons or someone else will get some votes for DPOY, but Rudy will win it and Clarkson may be unanimous.

Re: Holy Utah Jazz
Yeah, Monty Williams will be in the conversation, but Snyder still has to be the front runner. From game 8 on the Jazz have been the best regular season team. Monty has done a great job, but the Suns did have a superstar point guard join the team. The Jazz have the same 6 leading scorers as they did a year ago. This was about turning a good team into a great team and Snyder has done it without really changing the roster.

I will never understand why the Jazz struggle with the Timberwolves the way they do.

No Mitchell and a rare game where Conley, Ingles and Clarkson were all off, but yeah it is pretty weird the Jazz are the best team in the league and the Twolves are the second worst and the Twolves are 2-0 against the Jazz

Yeah, no excuses for losing to the Timberwolves. The wolves also have no excuses for being as bad as they are (they've got 3 really nice players with KAT, Russell, and Edwards), but the Jazz should never lose to them this year, let alone twice now.

Re: Holy Utah Jazz
The Jazz have always struggled with the T-Wolves for some weird reason.
At least the Suns have dropped 2 straight. They are in a virtual tie with the Clippers now.
I think the Jazz will probably be able to hang onto the 1 seed, but I am hoping the lakers can drop to 6th so the Jazz will be on opposite sides of the bracket from the Suns, Clippers, and Lakers. Let them all beat up on each other for the first 2 rounds.

Re: Holy Utah Jazz
I know it's 1 out of 72 and all that, but I see no universe in which a championship team loses to the Timberwolves 3 times.
Jazz are good, but not nearly good enough.

Yeah they aren't a championship team without Mitchell. Luckily he'll be back by the playoffs. Definitely pretty pathetic to be 0-3 against the second worst team in the league.

Inexcusable to lose to MN two straight and 3 times overall this year, even without Mitchell.

When was the last time they won a close game? I know they're currently something like 0-8 in OT games.

As far as a game decided in the last minute, probably the Memphis game right after the plane scare about a month ago.3rdGenAggie wrote: ↑April 26th, 2021, 9:55 pmWhen was the last time they won a close game? I know they're currently something like 0-8 in OT games.

That's probably right. The good news is, they haven't had many close games, the bad news is they haven't been great in the ones they've had.Aggie formerly in Hawaii wrote: ↑April 26th, 2021, 10:02 pmAs far as a game decided in the last minute, probably the Memphis game right after the plane scare about a month ago.3rdGenAggie wrote: ↑April 26th, 2021, 9:55 pmWhen was the last time they won a close game? Yeah it is a concern. The King and The Brow are likely your second round opponent, and you aren't going to blow out the Lakers 4 times.3rdGenAggie wrote: ↑April 26th, 2021, 10:28 pmThat's probably right. Re: Holy Utah Jazz
There may have been some frustration tonight. Set franchise records with most points in a game and largest margin of victory with a 154-105 win against the Kings. Nobody scored more than 24 points and nobody played more than 29 minutes.

Re: Holy Utah Jazz
To be fair, Towns and Russell have missed a ton of games this year. The wolves have a winning record when they both play. It isn't an excuse for the Jazz losing. A championship team should still beat the wolves, but the wolves aren't a bad team when both of those guys play.3rdGenAggie wrote: ↑April 25th, 2021, 7:24 amYeah, no excuses for losing to the Timberwolves. I watched most of that game on the Sacramento broadcast. They could not find much bad to say about Utah. That second quarter was just a blitz that the Kings could not stop. 46 points is an impressive 12 minutes of basketball.

wayman Tisdale and lionel simmons could have stopped that run and then mitch richmond would have rained threes down on them. white chocolate and chris webber would have carried us to victory. Vlade would be out for a smoke. Cousins would be getting a coach fired and...oh never mind. It just hurts to be a kings fan

Doug Christie does the color commentary for games. He said that the Jazz players were all nice guys. They beat you by 50 points and come and shake your hand after the game. He said he wouldn't have shaken hands with them.sam tingey wrote: ↑April 29th, 2021, 12:41 pmwayman Tisdale and lionel simmons could have stopped that run and then mitch richmond would have rained threes down on them. white chocolate and chris webber would have carried us to victory. Good gritty win last night against the Raptors. Everybody talks about wanting to avoid the Lakers and Clippers until the conference finals, but the Nuggets even without Murray will still be a challenge for whoever gets them in the playoffs, especially if Will Barton comes back. They just won in LA and are currently the 3 seed.

Yeah at this point I could see the Clippers vs Lakers playing in the 4-5. We'll see how it shakes out.
