Major League Baseball

Post by aceofspadeskb » May 28th, 2020, 12:55 pm

Is anyone else thoroughly enjoying watching them throw crap at a fan? What a lost opportunity to bring in some non-typical baseball fans. Even I would watch games on TV at this point, but no, they gotta fight over money.

They are starving out their minor league players and farm system. They are really getting hurt in all of this. MLB, more than every other major sport, relies on an extensive minor league system for player development. There are very few players that are ready for playing at the highest level of baseball that are just two years removed from high school. These guys with no guaranteed, long-term contracts are getting pinched by both the players union and the owners. It is a stand-off of greed.

It is more and more looking like there won't be MLB in 2020. The league rejected the players' union offer for season length and pay demands today (after the player's union rejected the league proposal). They also said that they will not make a counter-offer. They are at an impasse that does not look to be resolved. COVID-19 killed baseball, it would appear.

So disappointing. Huge baseball fan myself and my kids keep asking when games are going to start. I'm very skeptical they're going to figure it out in time for a season this year. Everyone loses...

Even if we do get MLB back this year I don't see anyway that MiLB comes back.

This is a tricky one because MLB relies so much on MiLB to fill roster spots when injuries occur and for expanded rosters at the end of the season. The poor minor league players are really getting the shaft in this deal. They don't have the big MLB player contracts to live on. Just a bad deal all around.

Both owners and players are very greedy, they need to realize it is not about them. This is going to hurt MLB much worse than 1994.

I love baseball, but as an Astros fan - this is perfect timing.

2021 seems like a great time to come back.

Oh please. I'd rather watch nothing than watch my team get beaned a million times while watching the dog and pony show of every MLB player clutching his pearls and acting like his team doesn't also have a sign stealing system. Sue me.
