BYU could be the front runner to replace A&M

Post by Steve509 » August 14th, 2011, 11:37 pm

copy & paste:

A couple of tweets from Chuck Carlton of the Dallas Morning News suggest BYU as the front runner. His tweets:

"Also confirmed through a source that ESPN and Fox agree to leave Big 12 TV deals alone -- if a suitable 10th team is found to replace A&M"
SotaSooner then asked, "@ChuckCarltonDMN what does "suitable" mean? Arkansas? Houston? Tulsa?"
Carlton's reply, "Think solid FB & BKB, national image, three initials."

I agree BYU is the front runner if everyone stays there. If Texas/Tech/OU/OSU jump ship BYU might not be interested. But if BYU get the invite it will be a mess working out the TV with BYU tv/ Fox. BYU tv thing and ESPN already had this worked out.

Apparently, the Big-12 doesn't have a problem with the no Sunday policy either. It would be a good fit. It pains me to say it, but IMO, BYU is the most "BCS ready" non-AQ and by a pretty wide margin.

Besides, BYU and Texas deserve one another.

It was said before, I can't remember who, but I agree, it would be nice to see BYU be told what to do and to be put in the corner and told to shut up for once.

However, if we want conference shake ups and movement that will eventually get USU into the MWC then we need someone like Houston or Air Force to get the nod.

Bywho the most bcs ready? Uhh have zoobies and the local media gotten into your heads? Didn't we beat byu last year 31-16? Didn't their stellar bb team escape the liquor n porn center with a win over us by just 6 points? Try "AFA" (only if that was true...)

I agree that BYU isn't the most ready for a step up. TCU would be the best fit. Geographically, facilities, have been to BCS bowl games. Texas and few other schools don't want TCU, but I know that many other teams in the Big 12 that would like TCU, before BYU. Houston probably before BYU too.

Go Aggies!
