Most Annoying quotes in sports

Post by wacfan08 » August 12th, 2011, 2:09 pm

The other day on ESPN radio they talked about this a bit so I thought I would post it here. What sports quotes are the most annoying to you.

"It's not about the money"
"The better team won"
"we need to play our ball game"

Tiger Woods just said this " I'm here to win"

Not a quote, but most hilarious interview question I've ever heard. Legendary

"I'm in San Bernadino right now"

Many years ago, before the George Karl era in Denver, some sport genius asked the coach of the Nuggets, "Coach,
what do you have to do to win this game tonight?" Answer: "Score more points than the other team".

I'm going to have to go with the TV color commentator a few years back that made the insightful comment, "The Aggies win most of their games when they score more than 70 points but hold their opponent to fewer than 70 points."

Ok, so maybe that's less annoying and more comedic gold...

Any sports analyst that over uses "At the end of the day...." to start what they are going to explain. Happens WAY too much.

Lebron uses it a TON too....this was his best use of it.
"At the end of the day, all of the people that were rooting for me to fail, tomorrow they'll have to wake up and have the same life that [they had] before they woke up today. They got the same personal problems they had today and I'm going to continue to live the way I want to live and continue to do the things I want to do."

Don't people get up in the morning and not the end of the day?

Gary Andersen uses "At the end of the day..." more than anyone I've ever heard before. It's almost like his catch phrase.

don't get me wrong, I agree with the principle, but I don't think it applies to sports.

Kevin Durant says,"I would like to thank the good Lord," and,"I thank my mother for being so supportive." He says it in every single interview! It gets annoying!

The worst was the oft-stated mid 90's quote..."I'm a BYU football fan and a Utah basketball fan". Is there a better definition of bandwagon?

How about "It is what it is", which usually means it isn't what it isn't.
