Re: Game Winning Shots in the Spectrum
There may have been another incident with Pacific fans, but what did happen was a Cal State Fullerton fan had a sign that said "Can't Stop Upset Fever". That led to a scuffle which included one Aggie fan led outside the arena in handcuffs. He was eventually released with a citation, and money was raised by Aggie fans to pay for the guy's citation.Real Life Aggie wrote: ↑January 13th, 2025, 1:02 pmThat is a brutal memory. I'm not sure I've ever felt so deflated.jackattack wrote: ↑January 13th, 2025, 8:50 amThe Pacific shot to win over the Aggies. I was there. It was $hitty. I think my friends and I sat there for 5 minutes wondering, WTH just happened??
Sorry to bring up bad memories.
Was that the same year that at the Big West tournament some Pacific students came over in front of our student section and started a kerfuffle? Cops came and ended up removing the Pacific guys and a couple of Aggie students as well.
What did happen with Pacific fans was a few fans tried to start a fight by putting up a sign that said "Still Overrated?". Ushers took it down and threw it in the trash to prevent a fight, but then an Aggie fan grabbed it and held it up in the closing minutes of the championship win. Pacific was a lock so Maryland needed them to lose and not take an at-large bid, and was on the bubble, with their big black mark that season pushing them down there being losing to Clemson three times. Then Pacific losing to us caused them to take an at-large bid and piss up the Maryland fans, causing them to accuse Pacific of losing on purpose to stick it to them.

In one of our down years, we went to overtime against Idaho with Medlin hitting a last second shot to send the game to overtime.

CDAAG. I think the game you are thinking of was when we were playing BYU in the Spectrum. We had Greg Grant my cousin in his senior year. We were down by 1 with 10 seconds. The y had the ball. They had Averon Parrish from Logan high, a traitor. In the USU timeout Greg didn’t like the defense called. He said all night long the y has been throwing it in to Parrish. Greg said he always goes to his left, so I can steal the ball from him. The y threw the ball in to Parrish. He went to the left and sure enough Greg with his huge hands stole the ball and dunked it. The y missed a last second heave from back court and we won. It was truly one of the finest moments I have witnessed
D in Aggie basketball. I was sitting right where it happened close to the visiting teams tunnel.
You know Greg in his 4 years and playing the y twice a year back then never lost to BYU. Greg was 8 - 0 against them.
Last years Sam shot overtook Greg’s play . That will always be the shot heard round the Aggie World."
I enjoyed this one! This has to be one of the top 3!

I had forgotten about that one. It transformed the way I view the last two minutes of a game, basically anything can happen.

Re: Game Winning Shots in the Spectrum
I totally forgot we had a player named Deron Hensen on our team. But I wasn't in Utah then and don't think I bothered going to the tourney to watch us be a one and done.

Re: Game Winning Shots in the Spectrum
This was neither a game-winning shot nor in the Spectrum, but it's one of the craziest buzzer-beaters I remember in an Aggie game when Fresno hit a 3/4 court shot to tie the game after Jared Quayle had seemingly iced it with a pair of free throws with only 0.6 seconds left. Aggies went on to win in OT.

In the MW Tournament right before Duryea was fired, we upset Boise thanks to a clutch shot by Sam. The announcers mentioned that was the first time we reached the MWT semi-finals.

I forgot about that blip. Made semi, fired coach. Good decision that worked out for sure.GameFAQSAggie wrote: ↑January 17th, 2025, 3:05 pmIn the MW Tournament right before Duryea was fired, we upset Boise thanks to a clutch shot by Sam. These were in the Spectrum, but not by USU, they were by teams in the other game of the Gossners.
