Agree that our challenge come tourney time will be with post play.AggieFBObsession wrote: ↑January 12th, 2025, 6:24 pmGreat post. So many of you need to take a Xanax and quit the personal attacks. Yes, I was pissed. Each of the players besides Ian are capable of being more focused and fixing more effort.
We're going to have crazy games by nature of being a good team. Having said that we've had too many close game either because we're overachieving (my personal belief) or we're playing subpar. I think this coaching staff has done a superb job of putting the pieces together but we're going to bite the dust against a good team in the dance. Why? Because we're overachieving. Aubin is in over his head. Templin plays so hard but isn't a true center, talent wise.
Mason and Ian are super but aren't p4 level top talent and won't be able to meet the challenge in the dance. In part they don't have enough help.
Yeah, we'll do just fine in the MWC.
But I'd really like to see this program take it to another level ala SDSU.
And for the haters of my post, we've got nobody as talented as Gwath. If you don't see that, I don't know what to tell you. You're lost.
I'm still an Aggie and I'm loving what I'm seeing overall, especially from the coaching staff.
We've got a ways to go. We'll win the MWC most probably. But it will be another early ncaa exit.
Disagree we are over performing. I know our “luck rating” is high and we’ve been fortunate to win a game or two, but more than not, we’re a surprisingly athletic team that closes well and finds a way. Last year’s team was more lucky. You don't win as many games against good opponents as these boys have without being good. Time will tell with the ‘24/25 Aggies.
Don’t agree with your take on Ian/Mason. Both of those guys would make an impact anywhere. Just go look at any of the many guys from the MW playing well in “bigger” conferences. For example, Tonje at Wisconsin, Williams at Texas Tech or Ashworth at Creighton.
Last year was not an early exit and we have 6 guys with NCAAT experience on this squad.
I believe we are on that trajectory of taking it to the next level, especially if we lock down Calhoun, return the core of this team and commit an impact 5.
Edit: if we earn a decent seed (7 or better), I expect another win in the dance this year.

Poster watches a performance, gets pissed, and comes here to critique the performance he just watched, and that's fine. Other posters read the critique, write a critique of it, and that's bad and personal attacks?AggieFBObsession wrote: ↑January 12th, 2025, 6:24 pmGreat post. Are the things said about your post any more personal attacks than the things you've said about the players?

Mason worked with a shot doctor during the off season. You saw the results with his improved 3-pointer numbers and earlier FT numbers.dyedblue wrote: ↑January 12th, 2025, 12:08 pmAggie call was embarrassing and I just turned it off. Some dude droning on about how he shot 100% FTs in church ball, well maybe 99. That caller probably started this thread. Such a hero. Too bad he can’t teach Mason how it’s done.
Mason is in his own head. He works his @ss off on FT shooting and he’ll come around. He’s too good not to, but historically he’s only a 67% shooter.
Free throws need to improve, but does it really help when it goes from 110 decimals to 10 every time we shoot? Is there a some noise we could make that wouldn’t be distracting?
Rebounding. This team is tougher on the boards than I thought they would be and punch above their weight. Rebounding out of a zone is tough. This team does it better than most given that we play zone 99.9% of the time.
He'll be fine.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Templin had 4 fouls or he wouldn’t have been. Templin has been the closer for a while.ryguy417 wrote: ↑January 11th, 2025, 9:29 pmGatereste, I repeat, Gatereste has no business being on the court in the final 3 minutes of a close game! He’s more of a liability than he is benefit. Nothing smaller guys like Templin or Tucker can’t do, but with a better chance of hitting FT. “Hack-A-Shaq” should be deployed anytime he touches the ball if I’m an opposing coach.

Yeah, Mason and Ian would start on almost any P4 team.AgTime wrote: ↑January 12th, 2025, 6:53 pmAgree that our challenge come tourney time will be with post play.AggieFBObsession wrote: ↑January 12th, 2025, 6:24 pmGreat post. Maybe our post play will give us trouble in the big dance, I do see it as our biggest weakness. But at the same time, how many times have we been bounced in the first round because our guards were outmatched? Last year and this year, our guards are exceptional. I think that is more important come tourney time than post play.

The only problem I had with Saturday night was not being in the Spectrum. That was a special game and a special moment. I wish I would have been there, but that is life. It would have been worth the many hours and hundreds of miles to be there.
