The #9 team in the country is losing at home by 32 points to the #22 team. I don't know how much stock to put into these rankings.

They took an 11 point drop by getting drubbed by the number 5 team. RUTS is real, yo!

Re: Rankings Watch
We did make the CBS sports top 25 plus 1 at number 26…hopefully the results from today allow us to get into an actual top 25

A lot of ranked teams losing today, let’s take care a business tonight and see where the chips fall.
For those of you wondering, the Houston Cougars DID NOT lose today.

Re: Rankings Watch
Is Craig in trouble at the u. This is what his 4th year there and I'd be surprised if he ends with a winning record. Probably bottom or close to it in the big 12.
It's a shame Houston spanked their opponent so bad.

Re: Rankings Watch
Going to look at teams ahead and behind us to guess whether we will be ranked on Monday.
Cincinnati (#16) - lost twice including at home vs Arizona.
Memphis (21) - won
Illinois (22) - win
Arkansas (23) - lost 76-52 @#1 Tennessee
Ole Miss (24) - won
Baylor (25) - lost 74-55 @#3 Iowa State
Maryland (26) - lost @ Washington
Drake (27) - lost@ UIC
St John's (28) - lost at Creighton
Dayton (29) - lost @ George Washington
Michigan (30) - won
USU (31)
Georgia (32) - L @Ole Miss
Pittsburgh (33) - won both
West Virginia (34) - won both
Do we pass Arkansas because they lost to#1? I think we sneak in at 25. Outside chance @24 or 26. Next week I'll look at the Bracket Matrix because each voter has different ballots and may drop or raise teams differently.

Re: Rankings Watch
West Virginia won @ Kansas without best two players. They will get ranked and deservedly so, they are playing really well.
Michigan will be ranked as well.
Would not suprised me if Pitt gets ranked as well.
We very well could be #26

Nebraska could leap frog us into the Top 25 as well. I don’t think this is the week we get ranked either.SpectrumMagic wrote: ↑January 4th, 2025, 10:59 pmWest Virginia won @ Kansas without best two players. They will get ranked and deservedly so, they are playing really well.

Unless North Texas beats Memphis, the only teams likely dropping out of the rankings are Arkansas and Cincinnati, and at least WVU is sure to leapfrog us.

Re: Rankings Watch
CBS Sports is projecting USU being ranked and had this to say about it:
"25 - Utah St. - Last week: NR -- A 69-64 road win over Nevada followed by an 89-83 win over Fresno State should be enough to get Utah State into the top 25 -- or at the very least right on the cusp. Now 14-1, the Aggies have emerged from a deep MWC as arguably its most formidable force."
Aside from getting more notice overall, I also appreciate the "deep MWC" comment.

Rohtstein has us at 24 in his weekly top 45. I'm pretty sure he has a vote. Chris Murray has us at 16. I think we sneak in at 25.

Interesting ESPN article that mentions USU as a "nonpower conference team to root for".

Re: Rankings Watch
Even when Lunardi is giving us compliments he still doesn't have his facts right, lol. He says we're doing this with an entirely new cast of characters. That was last season. We have 3 of our starters back this season. It's still impressive, but c'mon!RigAggie wrote: ↑January 6th, 2025, 10:50 amInteresting ESPN article that mentions USU as a "nonpower conference team to root for".

"Danny Sprinkle went 28-7 last season, including an NCAA tourney win over TCU, before taking Great Osobor with him to Washington. And now Jerrod Calhoun has come in from Youngstown State and gone 14-1 with an entirely new cast of characters. Throw in three Quad 1 wins already plus another three in Quad 2 and the Aggies could have even more momentum this March."
