Just a shout out to Sam Merrill playing with the Cavs, he's getting more playing time under the new HC.

Averaging 18.3 mpg, scoring a modest 6 ppg. This will only increase as he get's going.

Hope he starts to light it up soon!

He will probably play more than last year, but is playing a lot now because Max Struss is out. Honestly his shooting has been poor so far this year.

He's consistently the first guy off the bench at the 6 minute mark in the 1st and 3rd quarters. I've watched all his games and he's played well. His biggest struggle is that he plays those minutes with a few ball hoggs (Levert, Niang and Garland). He rarely ever gets the ball with Garland who's a black hole on offense. The shots he does get playing with those guys are usually rushed and well guarded.

However, he cooks when Mitchell plays PG and they seem to have great chemistry. I'd love to see them move Garland and make Mitchell their full time PG.

I will also add that Queta had a really good game tonight. Played in crunch time and overtime and was really good. Played good D and was getting rebounds.

Celtics unsure what they're doing at center. Horford, Kornet, Tillman, Queta.

I guess it's working though, 2023 Champs.

He also had a couple steals while guarding LeBron James one on one.

Celtics were down 21 in with 9 minutes left in the 4th when Queta came in. He played the rest of the way to send the game to overtime. Many of those minutes were with the other Celtics starters. He played in OT and the game was tied until they took him out with 34 seconds left and then the Celtics lost. That should teach them not to take him out at the end. But honestly, getting time with the starters and making a huge comeback was impressive rather than garbage time with second team. Queta didn't shoot much but he had 4 offensive rebounds that helped keep Celtics possessions alive and he played good defense. The Celtics have enough shooting with the starters that they should start Queta and let him do all the dirty work and then let Horford come in with the 2nd team and a little more scoring punch.

I may be the only Celtics fan (living in New England) who had a Celtics Queta shirt. I hope he earns a spot in the rotation this year.

I went to the jazz game last night (I haven't followed the NBA for awhile other than the 2 corner usu players of course) and I came away with the impression that a player like Queta could make it big by not taking shots. The jazz game last night was full of players just jacking up shots from all over. No offense was really run, so having a big guy out there to rebound and clog the lane could be helpful.

Sam hit his first three shots tonight (all threes) to give him 9 points within 3 minutes of checking in. Got some solid 4th quarter minutes and hit a three after the Bucks cut the lead to 1 with about 6 minutes left.

In 22 minutes he went 6-10 (5-9 from deep) for 17 points with a rebound, an assist and a block. He checked out of the game with 5:13 left, but certainly contributed in a hard fought game!
