Secret Scrimmage vs. Oregon
Re: Secret Scrimmage vs. Oregon
I used to love it when this was a forum about our basketball team.

Hey at least we are semi basketball/athletics adjacent. We could be talking about restaurants again.

Give it a week. We will be talking about this being the deepest team in history and other basketball stuff.

Yeah cause the Bovee thing died out so quickly. In a week Doug will be unemployed and we will have to listen to the same people bit#h about the same trash as before.
I hope the cancer keeps getting cut out of our athletic department.

Would you look at that? Your post and three of the four immediately following it were also not about our basketball team.

If food were discussed again, we would have covered some very important topics all in one thread. Sports, food, and sexual positions. Just so I don't get accused of not talking about basketball, I am excited for this season to start next week!

Re: Secret Scrimmage vs. Oregon
I've heard we struggled from 3. Around 20% Tucker 0/7, Mason 0/4, Ian 2/8. We will need Mason and tucker to shoot better to be really good. I've watched Tucker Anderson in practice multiple times and he was our best shooter. O fer in these games has me a little nervous. He did shoot well last season though.

I think he legit just needs ONE to fall in game then he’ll be back, literally just one.AGGIE#10 wrote:I've heard we struggled from 3. Around 20% Tucker 0/7, Mason 0/4, Ian 2/8. Re: Secret Scrimmage vs. Oregon
Mason is just not a 3 point shooter, it's not part of his game. Perhaps he can get marginally better, but IMO it's not something we can count on. Ian is streaky from 3, capable of going 5/5 from 3 in one game and 0/5 the next and not even being close.AGGIE#10 wrote: ↑October 30th, 2024, 4:56 pmI've heard we struggled from 3. Shooting 3s was our biggest weakness last year. I think we need the new guys to step up in that regard. We know what we have with the returning guys and it's hard to envision them getting substantially better.

Re: Secret Scrimmage vs. Oregon
The nice thing with Mason is he does not rely on the 3 point shot to be effective. He is very good around the rim. Honestly if he is 33% from 3 that will be solid. Tucker is a very good 3 point shooter and has a really nice stroke. I think he will come around.Aggie702 wrote: ↑October 30th, 2024, 5:01 pmMason is just not a 3 point shooter, it's not part of his game. Tucker will be fine. I think the speed of the game at this level is affecting how quickly he releases the ball. Once things slow down for him, he'll be the dude we are expecting him to be.Aggie84025 wrote: ↑October 30th, 2024, 5:21 pmThe nice thing with Mason is he does not rely on the 3 point shot to be effective. Re: Secret Scrimmage vs. Oregon
Tucker’s gotta come around. We need it. I know the step up in competition will take a bit of adjustment, but he won’t shy away from continuing to let it fly.AGGIE#10 wrote: ↑October 30th, 2024, 4:56 pmI've heard we struggled from 3. He was prolific last season at Central Arkansas as a freshman:

For comparison:
I. Martinez - 53/139 | 38.1%
B. Housley - 41/151 | 27.2%
D. Akano - 38/117 | 32.5%
I. Johnson - 25/73 | 34.2%
M. Falslev - 25/82 | 30.5%
D. Albury - 20/55 | 36.4%
D. Allen - 16/69 | 23.2%
K. Templin - 1/5 | 20%
P. Stosic - 0/6 | 0%

Didn't we say the same exact thing about Bean, though? I wouldn't rule out Mason improving (even if it's not this year).Aggie702 wrote: ↑October 30th, 2024, 5:01 pmMason is just not a 3 point shooter, it's not part of his game. Re: Secret Scrimmage vs. Oregon
Falslev spent a lot of time working on his 3-point shooting with a shooting coach. They identified a hitch in his shooting form and spent a lot of time on correcting that flaw. I have high hopes for Falslev to get above 35% this year, which would be a great improvment! But cutting and slashing will remain his bread and butter.
