Secret Scrimmage vs. Oregon

Post by ineptimusprime » October 20th, 2024, 11:15 am

Anyone know much about this? Sounds like it’ll take place a week from today in Eugene, yeah? Looks like Oregon is generally picked to finish higher in the Big 10 than Iowa, a team we play in the regular season. Oregon is a likely NCAA tourney team.

Not expecting to go into Eugene and get a win, but hoping to hear it was a close one!

What are the official rules on how "secret" these scrimmages have to be?. Scores of these seem to be reported. Is it just a rule that the official sites can't list the scores?

Oregon has a SG that could be an All American as a Sophomore, he’s legit.

Ok nice. I just thought I had heard OSU somewhere. Looks like Nevada beat Oregon in their scrimmage but I haven’t seen a score. Might give us a little insight playing a common opponent.

Do we get a check for these? Or do they just cover expenses? Given the secret scrimmage always tends to be a road game, I'm wondering what the financial incentive is, if any.

No revenue will be generated from this.

I heard this was going to be 6- 10 minute quarters by Oregons request. Coach said he would coach the first 4 like a game and the last 2 he would coach differently. I'm hoping we get some break downs into the different quarterly scores. I wouldn't take too much into final score if it is all 6 quarters that is reported.

Yeah, hoping that’s not too accurate, but my guess is it is.

On the euro trip, he was often right about the outcome but wrong about the score. Regardless, if you're going to take a 35 beat down, do it in a scrimmage that doesn't count. And use it as motivation for the season.

If that is real this season just got put in check even if it is a scrimmage. You don't lose like that to anyone if you are 9 men deep.

Unless in scrimmages, you play against teams that are 13 deep and play the not as good 10-13 guys

I recall our Round of 32 team lost by about 100 to a B1G team last year and we all love that team.

You certainly can’t spin the reported outcome as a good thing, but I am not ready to pack it in and call it a season. We looked pretty good against Weber and we all saw that game.

I'm actually really smart, probably smarter than you are so if you disagree with what I have stated in this post, you are likely wrong (and dumb).

The scrimmage score in either direction will have no bearing on how good or bad the team will be. I still believe the team will be very solid.

I would guess that our bottom of the roster got roasted.

I’m all about not overreacting to an outcome of an individual event, but weren’t the reports that Nevada beat Oregon last week?
