Wonder how late this goes? Seriously thinking about making the drive down, since we will be in texas for the game against weber state.

How is mason going to be in two places at once? That will have to be a fast drive to leave at 7 from bolt and be at the spectrum at 7 ready to play.

Re: Madness
Since Aggie Madness is the Men's and Women's team maybe they're planning on starting with the Women's team. The signing event is less than 2 miles from the Spectrum so he could get their pretty quickly.

Hyped to see the team tonight and get a feel for things! Hopefully it gets decent attendance, I'd like this to be an annual thing that generates excitement. Feels like free events like this could be a great marketing tool to generate buzz and NIL donations if done right.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I thought this was a yearly event? I’ve been to a couple of these in the Wayne Estes building but this is my first time seeing it in the spectrum.ToastedFlakes52 wrote: ↑October 14th, 2024, 3:52 pmHyped to see the team tonight and get a feel for things! Re: Madness
Does anyone else remember the 12:AM midnight madness events they used to put on around this time before the beginning of the season? Those were always a hoot to attend. Although it did make attending any early morning classes the next day not so fun.

Re: Madness
It was an interesting evening, but not very informative IMO.SectionBAggie wrote: ↑October 14th, 2024, 10:24 pmAny measurable stats? Who was in the 3-point contest? Anything?
The 3-point contest was organized into 4 teams of 1 member each from the women’s and men’s teams. I’m not very informed about the women’s roster, so forgive me. I will agree Tucker has a good looking shot that he will make at a very high rate. At 6’9”, he’ll get plenty of looks. Falslev also participated and looks to have improved his form… perhaps?
Men’s participants: Anderson, Johnson, Falslev, Smith (winning team)
Aside from that, Ian threw down a pretty insane dunk to win that contest. Templin was the other finalist there, which surprised me.
Participants: Martinez (winner), Templin, Davis, Albury, Gateretse
Most of the boys look to have added some muscle, which is good to see — Templin and Martinez stood out to me.
Calhoun spoke at the end and said our strength will be in our numbers. I believe this might actually be the year we run 9 or 10 deep. Time will tell there. Coach also said what we see this Friday will not be the finished product, so work in progress.

Coach also mentioned that it will be face pace basketball. Re: Madness
Man, Midnight Madness was a huge thing when I was a student. The students packed the place and there were so many give aways and contests for the fans. I remember having pizza delivered to the entire student section and watching the 3pt and dunk contests. No women's team back then obviously but it was always one the nights we looked most forward to as students.

Re: Madness
How was the turnout?
I wish they’d bring back the midnight one and focus on student turnout, esp with them doing a charity scrimmage a few nights later which could be a kind of Aggie Madness at a reasonable hour for normal folks

Re: Madness
I know it’s a meme on here because we always say it, but THIS is the type of roster you absolutely can go balls to the wall with on pace. You’re very deep at every spot, we need to use that to our advantage and run teams with less depth into the ground.Dkdavis wrote: ↑October 14th, 2024, 10:47 pmCoach also mentioned that it will be face pace basketball. We have talent out the (I can't express myself without swearing) at the 1-3, and though our depth might not be as quality at the 4/5 you still have enough bodies to make it work. Obviously Fish and Gateretse are going to be good, but you have Anderson who can play some 4, and Davis, Templin, and Stosic as well. Could even use Akanno at the 4 in a pinch. Run and gun

Re: Madness
Wasn't the midnight madness event created because the teams couldn't practice until a certain day, and the event around the country was to get on the court the first minute they could and started having the madness events? maybe i'm remembering it wrong.Aglicious wrote: ↑October 14th, 2024, 11:32 pmMan, Midnight Madness was a huge thing when I was a student. Re: Madness
Yeah I feel like the rollout/marketing for the event left a lot to be desired. You see other schools make it a huge deal, with more giveaways and hype. I think if you chose a better night, made it more of a student event (maybe bring in some sort of artist for a concert afterwards? I know that's what Kentucky or other schools do sometimes), market the heck out of it, etc. Then it could be a fun viable thing. Turnout was disappointing, and I feel like most people didn't know it was going on. Hopefully they learn from it and do better next year. (Hype will be easier to generate after we make it to the Final Four next year of course)MetsJetsAggies wrote: ↑October 15th, 2024, 12:31 pmThat’s a super disappointing turnout, and almost no students?
