Re: Dexter interview
Thanks for posting! Seems like a good dude with a great attitude.
Also, I'm a little mind blown by one particular detail. After a little more research, it appears Dexter and one other player on this year's roster will do something that has never been done by a player in USU hoops history.
Any guesses?

With two year missions and a redshirt this would really surprise me.SLB wrote: ↑July 26th, 2024, 2:01 amBe playing in his 7th season after high schoolAglicious wrote: ↑July 26th, 2024, 1:21 amThanks for posting! Seems like a good dude with a great attitude.

Re: Dexter interview
The answer?
His jersey #.
Every player in history has worn a jersey number made of numbers 0-5. This season Akanno will wear #7 and Allen will wear #8.

Re: Dexter interview
Used to be a rule that no digit higher than five could be used so refs could signal which player committed a violation by holding up the number of fingers.
That rule was changed several years ago.
Also, under the old rule, 1, 2, or 3 could not be used as a standalone number because refs holding up those numbers could be signaling something else.

Re: Dexter interview
@cval mentioned it earlier up in the thread. Jersey numbers were limited to digits 0-5 at all levels of basketball for decades to make it possible for refs to signal a player's number on their fingers using both hands. The NBA changed their rule quite a while ago and will allow any number from 1-99 and 00 (except 69). The NCAA has now followed suit.flying_scotsman2.0 wrote: ↑July 28th, 2024, 6:42 amHuh, weird rule… anyone know why?shoresy wrote: ↑July 27th, 2024, 11:25 pmIt hasn't been allowed by the NCAA until last season

Re: Dexter interview
That they won't allow a player to where #69 is the very reason I began boycotting the NBA several years ago. Such a travesty and an affront to all of humanity.Aglicious wrote: ↑July 28th, 2024, 9:56 am@cval mentioned it earlier up in the thread. Re: Dexter interview
Excellent. I love that a simple number is infamous enough that organizations will not allow it (see also multiple state departments of transportation removing mile markers for 69).Aglicious wrote: ↑July 28th, 2024, 9:56 amThe NBA changed their rule quite a while ago and will allow any number from 1-99 and 00 (except 69).flying_scotsman2.0 wrote: ↑July 28th, 2024, 6:42 amHuh, weird rule… anyone know why?shoresy wrote: ↑July 27th, 2024, 11:25 pmIt hasn't been allowed by the NCAA until last season

Let’s have some good news for a change eh? Now I know that they weren’t going very hard…. but it doesn’t hurt that Dexter is spending his offseason with NBA players
