Tucker interview
This is a fun concept, hope they do this with the entire team.
Excited to see what this young man can do!
Anyone been to any practices to see how Tucker/the team is going?
And just a reminder

Calling it now: Tucker leads the team in scoring this year and is one of the front runners for MW POTY.

Re: Tucker interview
Would love to see that… but my bet is on Martínez or possibly Falslev before Tucker. I’m also excited to see how Albury does. Johnson should take a step forward too. This will be a fun team

Tucker interview
That’s a bold prediction! Reminds me a bit of SLB’s going out on a limb and pining for Shulga prior to his sophomore year.shoresy wrote:Calling it now: Tucker leads the team in scoring this year and is one of the front runners for MW POTY.

I won’t go as far as say he’ll be our top scorer and POTY candidate, but I do think he will be a significant contributor. His stroke and game are very reminiscent of Taylor Funk, who was obviously a key to our 2022/23 success.
I do love the interview and hope they do more for the other players too.

Haha the difference is that if I'm wrong about it, that's totally fine. I won't try to twist it and claim it was parodyAGGIEinIOWA wrote: ↑July 23rd, 2024, 10:58 amThat’s a bold prediction! Realistically, Martinez definitely has the best shot to be "the dude" for this team, but I'm extremely high on Anderson. Can't wait to see what this team looks like.

Re: Tucker interview
From another thread that I commented in a few weeks ago as a follow up to Aggie4L1ife's comment is pasted below. He is hands down the best shooter on the team. He's going to demand minutes with his shooting. He shoots it deep shoots it with a hand in his face and will make a high percentage. Buy his stock he will be very good!

This is a 100% correct. I've been to a few practices and Tucker has been impressive shooting the ball. He will be the best shooter on the team. When he is open he will let it fly. Be very high on him. Drake Allen has been impressive in the practices I've seen as well. I'm higher on him now than I was on the initial signing. Excited to see Albury play as he should be here next week.

He has Sam Merrill's jumper as a sophomore. This kid oozes NBA potential.AGGIEinIOWA wrote: ↑July 23rd, 2024, 10:58 amThat’s a bold prediction! Re: Tucker interview
Coming from anyone else, equating a player to Sam Merrill would be a blasphemous statement. But from you . . . . Well at least New Mexico has a different coach or he would be reliving some of his prior nightmares.aggies22 wrote: ↑July 24th, 2024, 5:57 amHe has Sam Merrill's jumper as a sophomore. Nah, 22 has a history of over hyping players. Or at least he hypes them up and we overreact.bwcrc wrote: ↑July 24th, 2024, 6:38 amComing from anyone else, equating a player to Sam Merrill would be a blasphemous statement. But from you . . . . I am not even attempting any depth chart projections since we have so many good players, and the team could play everyone.aggies22 wrote: ↑July 24th, 2024, 5:57 amHe has Sam Merrill's jumper as a sophomore. Anderson does have NBA potential because you can't teach someone to be 6'9" with his shooting.

Re: Tucker interview
Yes. The annual summer tradition discussion of how this USU team has a deep bench. We go 11 or 12 deep on the roster without drop-off in talent.

With the increase in allowed scholarships, we might be able to crank that up to 14 or 15. Good days are ahead!Yossarian wrote:Yes. The annual summer tradition discussion of how this USU team has a deep bench. We go 11 or 12 deep on the roster without drop-off in talent.

Re: Tucker interview
9 players on the team were starters in the 23-24 season.
One is an incoming freshman that was a top 120 247 HS recruit
Templin is a sophomore.
Stosic was a transfer from Gonzaga.

I think he had a confidence issue that a coach like sprinkle maybe wasn’t good at correcting. Could be completely wrong, but I think he’ll do better this season.

I think most have penciled in Albury as the starting pg, but that certainly will be interesting to see who starts between Allen and alburyAGGIE#10 wrote: ↑July 23rd, 2024, 3:47 pmFrom another thread that I commented in a few weeks ago as a follow up to Aggie4L1ife's comment is pasted below. Re: Tucker interview
Nice problem to have! Allen seems like a more traditional PG and distributor, while Albury is more of a pure scorer and can play some 2 if we need more scoring firepower and shooting (with Martinez at the 3).slcagg wrote: ↑August 7th, 2024, 10:04 pmI think most have penciled in Albury as the starting pg, but that certainly will be interesting to see who starts between Allen and alburyAGGIE#10 wrote: ↑July 23rd, 2024, 3:47 pmFrom another thread that I commented in a few weeks ago as a follow up to Aggie4L1ife's comment is pasted below. Albury/Allen
Martinez/Akanno/Albury
Falslev/Akanno/Martinez/Anderson
Anderson/Fish/Templin
Gateretse/Fish/Davis/Stosic
Mainly a 9 man rotation I’d guess. Lots of flexibility in the lineup too, can keep all the guards fresh so they can go hard when they’re in
