We need to find tough opponents in non-conference play

Post by SLB » April 30th, 2024, 9:26 am

The MWC is struggling with the transfer portal, so we need to find tough opponents in non-conference play to help with the strength of schedule.

Mixed feelings on that one. A mostly softer pre-conference schedule was good for us last year I think, new faces, new coach, wins always look good.

But if we go to soft, and only have 5 Q1 opportunities total, than we'll be complaining in March.

Interested to see how Calhoun plays this. He might not have a lot of choice, no one wants to play the Aggies

It is a fine balance. I would say our OOC scheduling the last 5-6 years has been a good mix and overall solid. We have gotten several at large bids so we have struck a good balance. I would like to see the Aggies get a solid preseason tournament invite. We know getting high profile teams to Logan is almost impossible.

Agreed, that was a super fun game and environment. Would love to have a similar game this year.

The A10/MWC challenge ended before it started due to covid, but I'd love to see the conference get involved and look into a challenge with another equivalent non-P4 conference.

I understand the thought, but that was a Q2 win last season.
