Not a Fan of Sabau Thus Far
Hasn’t really done anything since arriving, when she has had something to do it’s ended terribly (Kayla Ard).
And now, with her first BIG decision as AD, she hires 62 year old, never even been past Kansas to recruit, play pussy Odomball Tod K?? All because he coaches at her hometown university?
I don’t know, I’m not impressed, and I’m wishing more and more by each day that Jerry was the AD.

What exactly are you blaming her for in the Ard situation? Letting her finish the season out and answering stupid questions from local media?FootballAgg wrote: ↑March 28th, 2024, 1:09 pmHasn’t really done anything since arriving, when she has had something to do it’s ended terribly (Kayla Ard).

Re: Not a Fan of Sabua Thus Far
Who the (I can't express myself without swearing) is Sabua?
This place sure is (I can't express myself without swearing) whiney sometimes (and trust me, I know whining! I have a very specific set of things I whine about though).
There were no grand slam hires to be made here like there was last year. Diana's best hope was to hit one of the many doubles that were presented to her. TK certainly has the longest track record of winning among the options presented. It was an entirely reasonable choice under the circumstances. Simon and Hill would have been reasonable as well.
Also can we stop all the (I can't express myself without swearing) about NIL and the free transfer rule? We have BENEFITTED more from those rules than almost any program in the country to date if you are looking at results in both major sports over the last 5 years. Sure, we were late to the party on NIL, but we have solid people trying to do their best now to make our NIL competitive. I am a certified whiner, but the whiney around here on certain things is too much even for me.

Re: Not a Fan of Sabua Thus Far
My big concern is the post that stated that he coaches a finesse style. I agree with the poster that that style doesn’t translate well to postseason play. In addition, the MWC has become a very physical league. I don’t think a finesse style will translate well to conference play either.

Correct me if I'm wrong didn't we go to the MW Championship Game and get an at large bid during the Odom era with the finesse style of play?

Absolutely, in a similar manner that we did in this years semi finals with our newfound physicality. We can cherry pick like this all day.BasketballAgg wrote: ↑March 28th, 2024, 3:17 pmCorrect me if I’m wrong we got mushroom stamped in both of them?

Re: Not a Fan of Sabua Thus Far
Well, if it happened twice, then clearly no finesse teams can ever win a big game. This seems like the silliest concern about Kowalczyk. Wouldn't a finesse team have an advantage if the referees decide to call a tight game? What is the evidence that referees are always going to swallow their whistles in big games?BasketballAgg wrote: ↑March 28th, 2024, 3:17 pmCorrect me if I’m wrong we got mushroom stamped in both of them?

Re: Not a Fan of Sabua Thus Far
Which style do you prefer that we use as our signature? I think the style we played this year would provide more “sustained success” down the road.
History has shown that games are less likely to be called tight in tournament.

Is there any concrete evidence that teams that play more physical defense are more successful in the postseason? I'm an analytics junky who loves to read articles about the numbers behind different basketball strategies, and I've never seen real data on this.

Re: Not a Fan of Sabua Thus Far
I think it's funny that people are judging Diana already for things that haven't even happened. I've been impressed so far with what I've seen. Getting Utah to agree to come to Logan next year we a good deal for us. She thinks a lot bigger than some of our former AD's and I believe she's trying to change the culture here a bit. We won't know how good her basketball hire is for several months so let's maybe not rip her apart for a hire that hasn't even happened yet.

If you take away all of the good things she has done and only consider the hires that she hasn’t made yet then it becomes clear that she sucks.
