Re: Not a Fan of Sabau Thus Far
Once I listened to her interview with Scotty today I felt allot better about things ! Diana was very impressive to listen to and I think she has a big vision going forward for Aggie athletics. With everything she has been dealt the last month business and personal you can see she is a very strong person and I commend her for that. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Diana Go Aggies !

Yup, very impressive interview today. It wasn’t just shooting the breeze with Hans and Scotty. She laid out a clear plan.BigCountryAG wrote: ↑March 29th, 2024, 11:09 pmOnce I listened to her interview with Scotty today I felt allot better about things ! Every time I see this thread I read it as not a fan of Subarus.
Which is fighting words in Utah.
TBF I grew up and my parents had a Subaru station wagon. We also had a Subaru Justy when I was a toddler butone if my sisters took that to college. I think I remembered it, but not really.

She’s extremely well regarded nationally and has taken major steps in turning the department into a professional operation. I am glad she is here. More work to do cleaning things up but I have total confidence in her.

This post gave me flashbacks of putz. Except it would have been a story about 10 paragraphs long about his sister’s Subaru and it would have morphed into something about St. Greed and who knows what else.Imakeitrain wrote: ↑March 29th, 2024, 11:27 pmEvery time I see this thread I read it as not a fan of Subarus.

No idea who it was, but whoever "leaked" the Tod K hire to that (I can't express myself without swearing) Goodman is my favorite person in the AD.

I’d honestly be surprised if you looked back and didn’t find a mention from him about Subarus in one of his Aberdeen posts. Re: Not a Fan of Sabau Thus Far
Would love to find out the real story with that. Regardless of whether you love or hate Goodman, he's usually right. Maybe Jerrod said no initially so they got pretty close with TK, then Jerrod came back. Or maybe they asked TK to keep some of Sprinkles assistants and he said he wanted his own guys whereas Jerrod was open to it. Or maybe TK read the this forum and saw all the meh replies and changed his mind lol.

SPOT ON CHICAGO. The leisurely do it tomorrow/later or never attitude within our USU Athletic Department is undergoing a positive change. Need to give Diana Sabau room to work through the in house entanglements of governmental bureaucracy. Change takes time.

This is my hope, @NavyBlueAggie. I hope the change is too difficult for some and they leave so that they can save themselves the humiliation. The athletic department has been playing Tiddlywinks for too long. But I wonder why it's so difficult to show some people the door. It's it because the state laws or employment rules don't allow it without too much self inflicted damage?NavyBlueAggie wrote: ↑March 30th, 2024, 1:08 pmChicagoAggie wrote: ↑March 28th, 2024, 7:29 pmBeing held accountable when historically you had no accountability would do that to people!Aggieforlife wrote: ↑March 28th, 2024, 7:21 pmShe is still in the prove it stage for me. While there are certainly some who wouldn’t be able to function in a new environment, there are some who would welcome the change and adjust their approach to fit the new environment.
I hope the housecleaning identifies both kinds and doesn’t just get rid of everyone. There are some long term dedicated people there who should not be punished for poor leadership in the past.

This thread is great!!!
Our athletic department has been so successful for so long that it really pisses me off that someone is upsetting entrenched employees.

So much so that certain individuals haven't had any qualms with undercutting people who'd make Utah State better so that their egos could remain in tact.Empire of Dirt wrote: ↑March 30th, 2024, 2:00 pmThis thread is great!!!

Re: Not a Fan of Sabau Thus Far
I think Sabau has been just fine. A lot of the angst in this thread is short-sighted. You are welcome to your opinions, but I wouldn't consider them informed opinions. USU athletics is in a better spot now than it has been in a long time. Some of that is Sabau. Most of that is Aggie fans. Remember, we are the stewards of this program.

This thread is rooted in the fact that Diana isn’t apart of the ol boys club and wants to shake things up.
They’re pissed Bovee didn’t get the job.
They don’t like that Diana isn’t content letting the non-producers keep non-producing and collecting the paychecks because Grandpa was an Aggie

Remember, people look to media members to leak info for their benefit. Why would the AD benefit from it leaking that TK was the lead candidate when he left that day without an offer in hand?

Re: Not a Fan of Sabau Thus Far
From an outsiders perspective (I dont work in the AD).- a culture change was needed in the AD. We'd had scandal after scandal after scandal after scandal. The Frank Maile debacle post Cockett comments, GA 2.0s odd midseason firing, the comments by the police chief + Ba, The lawsuit by a disgruntled former player, a myriad of arrests and misbehavior by the athletes, Hartwell's abrupt departure under... ahem... interesting circumstances. I'm sure i'm missing a lot.Bullnamed_gus wrote: ↑April 1st, 2024, 8:41 amThis thread is rooted in the fact that Diana isn’t apart of the ol boys club and wants to shake things up.

I've met Bovee and like him personally, but he wasn't going to provide the culture change we needed. Sabau's first year has not been free of bumps, but I think a lot of that is the painful process of changing an organizational culture.

I’m not going to link it but there is a podcast floating around with a former player outlining a small portion of what was going on here. I’m surprised more hasn’t come out. But yeah, she has a lot of cleaning up to do.
