Re: Gordon Monson on Sprinkle and College Coaches
Good article, the way I look at it is like what rAggie said yesterday, in fact if you think about it, Danny paid US to coach here for a year, and gave us a conf. Championship and an NCAA win, and we got paid! Not bad. Hell if we could only replicate this every year, we'd be sitting pretty.

Re: Gordon Monson on Sprinkle and College Coaches
Like I said in another thread, it was a good business transaction where all parties came out ahead. I respect the guy, but I don't really like him. I agree that if this could be replicated it would be a good thing, but I would take the ups and downs of someone who will stay here for a decade or so, over the recent coaches.
I don't see it happening though. Monson is right. This is college hoops now and the best we can expect might be these occasional rent-a-teams.

Yeah, that's basically the point of the article (he just uses Sprinkle as an example)...All college sports teams are changing. For me, they are changing for the worst.

I love the comment on that article that asks why USU can't come up with the money to retain their coaches while Utah and BYU can. LMAO.
It's completely lost on that person that no one wants the mediocre coaches at either of those places. If someone with deeper pockets came along and wanted them, they would be had.
USU's willingness to basically make DS the highest paid coach in the MWC was still not enough to compete with $3M+ from Washington.

I’ve generally found that the comment section of most media websites is full of people who are completely lost.Aglicious wrote: ↑March 26th, 2024, 1:38 pmI love the comment on that article that asks why USU can't come up with the money to retain their coaches while Utah and BYU can. LMAO.

This one was a good one regarding the state of all college basketball....not USU

Will raising the buyout help? I just looks like it should be higher.
I mean what does 3 mil mean these days? What are the pros and cons?
