I mean, it’s not like there isn’t a major metro area 45 minutes away. Logan isn’t Antarctica.

Are you single? Are you Sprinkle's age? If you are single, have you lived in Logan and tried to date someone in Salt Lake?FL350Aggie wrote: ↑March 24th, 2024, 11:44 pmI mean, it’s not like there isn’t a major metro area 45 minutes away. Logan isn’t Antarctica.
Because I am close to Sprinkle's age, and am single, and have dated women in SLC. It isn't easy. Some people can make that distance work, some people can't, and if you can, it takes a lot of effort.
Dating for a "middle aged" non-Mormon in Cache Valley is really close to hell on earth. And unless you're living that life, I don't think you can really comment, because the perspective that the majority of people around here have having got married at 22 or whatever ... you just have no idea.

Isn't Ogden 45 minutes from Logan?
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Personally, I think we are better than hiring an assistant coach, unless that assistant coach is a "oh, no $hit???" type of coach.DCAggie24 wrote: ↑March 24th, 2024, 6:41 pmI won’t say who for obvious reasons of this person still being employed by another university. This also shouldn’t come as a surprise but I’m more saying this to give confidence that USU is ready for whatever next step they need to take.
A sitting assistant coach has been having “exploratory” conversations with USU for “almost two months.” He wants the job and him and USU have been talking 1-2 times a week over those two months unofficially gauging interest. They have been having open dialogue about the fluid situation and the ever changing landscape over those two months. I have not spoken to him since conference tourney week began(he has been busy) but he had not been told (at that point) of where he stood other than mutual interest.
He was told that USU was having these same conversations with a number of people and some have been weeded out due to lack of interest on either side.
So it would be my assumption that there should be a quick turnaround once the dominos fall.

I think Burgess is a fantastic coach. And would do really well here at Utah state. He can recruit really really well.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑March 25th, 2024, 7:22 amWhen you say this my mind goes right to the 2 guys I posted about before, Barrett Peery & Chris Burgess.DCAggie24 wrote: ↑March 24th, 2024, 6:41 pmI won’t say who for obvious reasons of this person still being employed by another university. He doesn’t fit the typical mold though. So not sure if the AD hires him. But he would do really well Here

Burgess would have come to Logan in a heartbeat when Smith interviewed him for an assistant coach role but Smith was not interested. I think he is a great coach and great recruiter but I do wonder how well he makes the leap to head coach.

And I was single as a grad student at the University of Washington. That didn't help. Was in Idaho Falls for years and that was terrible if you were over 25 years old. Re: And now we wait…
Two years if he wins and gets a bigger check somewhere else. Maybe UCLA or USC will recruit him.
And 4-5 years if he doesn’t meet expectations. His contract probably shapes the latter. And I think the latter is more likely since he’s now playing in a better conference and coaching for a team that is historically lower on the totem pole of tradition and excellence than almost any other Big 10 team. Moreover, Huskey basketball is relatively poorer performing that Huskey football, so those donors and fans will get impatient quickly if he can’t replicate the school’s football performance. Finally, I think all UW programs are going to have some serious growing pains in the Big 10, where the level of competition will be tougher. There’s potential for a lot of unhappy fans. He has an arguably tougher task ahead of him this go-around.

Sprinkle spent 19 years in the LA area, 4 in Bozeman before he came to Logan….maybe the problem isn’t the location. Just sayin .
