Did they? Because I pretty much only see folk from these prestigious Aggie boards over there telling the poster he was an idiot.ProvoAggie wrote: ↑February 28th, 2024, 11:19 amGotta love when a fan goes on a message board posting something that they think will make them a hero and instead their own fans tell them that they're an idiot.

Re: Fresno Fan Confronts Sprinkle Post Game
I wonder if the reaction from the Fresno fan was triggered by Brown hitting his dagger 3 in overtime, not the end of regulation one. I couldn't get a good video angle of it, but from the MW broadcast he turns towards the fans and raises his hands. Doesn't seem like anything out of the norm for hitting a shot in that situation.

Every player who hits a critical shot on the road turns to the home crowd to taunt them in some manner. It's a fun part of the game.

Doesn't seem like something anybody would actually say haha, I think this guy made up 100% of his story.

Re: Fresno Fan Confronts Sprinkle Post Game
I'll give the announcers credit because I saw them mention it both ways. In the first 5 minutes of gametime I heard them saw "that could have been called a travel" when FSU had the ball. There were times in the second half when both teams had the ball and they said a lot of contact but no foul. They were some of the least biased announcers I've ever heard in terms of refereeing.

Re: Fresno Fan Confronts Sprinkle Post Game
The TV feed showed a group of missionaries sitting in the stands toward the end of the 2nd half. I'm guessing they don't make a habit of going to games to support FSU, so I'd assume at least one was a USU fan.

Re: Fresno Fan Confronts Sprinkle Post Game
This is true, they were actually quite nice to listen to. You could tell they were pro-Fresno St., but not obnoxiously so. They even mentioned a foul could have been called on the 3pt shot to send it to OT.Coloraggie wrote: ↑February 28th, 2024, 2:18 pmI'll give the announcers credit because I saw them mention it both ways. The most demonstrative thing I saw from the USU side all night was on Brown's 3pt in OT when Sprinkle ran out to the court and pumped his fist like he was throwing a punch at the court at the following timeout. A ref just happened to be passing him and immediately turned around to have a word with him. I think the ref thought he might have been taunting at first but it looked like he was either fired up after the shot or was upset with his own team about something. I was a little worried that Sprinkle was going to cost us a technical foul there for a second.

Re: Fresno Fan Confronts Sprinkle Post Game
This is likely true. I was doing a inspection on a SC near the Fresno State stadium two weeks ago. It was P-day so the missionaries were all there playing volleyball among other things. Several of them had attended or are planning on attending USU.
On another note, if this guy really did get a personal response from our AD he is one of only a few who have. Impressive!

I also thought that he was screaming at the ref about missing a foul on the DBII3. thought we were gonna get a tech and they would just have to hit one to end the gameAglicious wrote: ↑February 28th, 2024, 2:40 pmThis is true, they were actually quite nice to listen to. Re: Fresno Fan Confronts Sprinkle Post Game
Well, I was not there, so I am just going off the descriptions here.
From the pics, it appears that at least a couple dozen Frezno State fans were there occupying a handful of seats in their very nice Save Mart Arena.
What a sham. Why do you need a beautiful 15K arena if 100 fans are going to show up?
Maybe they could sell the arena and just convert an old Army Reserves weekend warrior facility into a basketball arena.
Realistically, FSU Basketball is pulling off a huge scam against the good people of the Central Valley.
And yes, that does seem like the very kind of classless moronic statement one might expect from a FSU fan. Win or lose.
It is just the way of things.

I heard somewhere that the missionaries in the area were being allowed to attend the game because several had local ties.

Re: Fresno Fan Confronts Sprinkle Post Game
I think Frank, the New Mexico State Aggie, has uprooted himself from Las Cruces and moved to Fresno. That was the only explanation for it. That psychology and self-righteousness of that post had Frank written all over it. The only thing that compares to his report was the outright enthusiasm of the funeral director they hired to call the game on the Fresno State Mountain West TV feed. Epic.
I have to say that reading this thread has been pretty fun. I haven't chuckled so much since "101 Things to Do with A Cougar" back in the day.

Re: Fresno Fan Confronts Sprinkle Post Game
I wouldn't have. I would've celebrated with my teammates instead of worrying about taunting the beaten crowd. It's a bad look that makes it seem like they've been in your head the whole game to the point where you feel you have to stick it to them after beating their team. Pretty weak IMO.918AGG wrote: ↑February 28th, 2024, 10:20 amDoes anyone really feel bad for the Red Wave, the CSU student section, or the Hurd after a loss? Win and you can gloat and do "winning team, losing team." Lose and your opponent can run around the court, taunting the opposing fans. Seems perfectly fair both ways. I loved the way Lucas celebrated, and I would have done the same thing, but worse.
It's totally insane to think that you can pile it on all game and then not get it shoved right back up your poop chute in a loss.
