San Francisco

Post by scotlandog » November 26th, 2023, 8:45 pm

Watched them play Minnesota tonight. They are a huge team. Only 2 of the 9 guys who played were under 6’7” with most 6’7” or 6’8” across the board. They also have a center who is 7’2” who plays decent minutes.

One of our advantages has been size and length. We won’t have that advantage in this game. I’m curious to see how we perform against that lineup. We saw great struggle against Freeman on Akron who was fast, athletic and very skilled though he has done well against other bigs. They will likely double him and have lots of length to limit passing lanes. Can he handle that pressure? Can we hit threes if he does make the pass?

We may not have advantage in length but we may have a quickness advantage. Can we spread the floor and drive to the hoop? Can we pressure the ball to get turnovers and fast breaks?

Santa Clara is built the same way. Regardless, I can see our guards having their way a bit with both teams.

Those games are back to back so we should have some good experience heading into the San Fran game. Should be some good games. The whole next stretch of games are looking like some good tests for us.

St Louis (5-2)
UC Irvine (6-1)
San Diego (5-2)
Santa Clara (6-1)
San Fran (5-2)

That’s 27-8 over the next couple weeks. If we go undefeated through that stretch, we will be looking great heading into conference play and should be sporting a pretty good NET at that point.
