As someone who admittedly likes to read the tea leaves and thereby stir the pot, out of my curiosity I did notice that Odom follows USF’s AD on Twitter. He also follows John Hartwell, but doesn’t follow Jerry Bovee. :stirpot:

Out of curiosity I found the forum for USF to see if they might be able to provide any more insight.

Unfortunately, no….just more speculation. They appear not to have an aggies22 equivalent. Right now most of them are in the drooling stage.

Sad 😞

USF has no basketball community. It is the epitome' of the commuter school. Odom spent time here as an assistant years ago. I would hope he remembers how desolate and apathetic the fan base is and will stay at USU with his paltry $900k salary for another year until a better gig comes along.

The folks on the South Florida board are even confused on why Odom would go there to play in their quiet, empty arena versus a place where people care about basketball. Interesting.

One thing I have learned through decades of aggie fan scar tissue: never ever try to guess a coaches motives for staying or leaving outside of money: That seems to be 99% of the equation.

Same here...even Provo.

I wouldn't move to Florida though because of the roots I have here...but if things were the other way around, it would be easy to make the decision to go back home or closer to home. Still don't think I could handle Florida though.

You wouldn't have to live in provo. Just work there for 8 hours 5 days a week. I can hold my breath for a pretty long time so I think I would be okay.

I have two kids living there right now, so my wife would be happy with a bunch more money and living by her kids.

I would totally work in Provo. There is no greater joy than taking as much money out of Utah Valley and funneling it to the proper part of the state.

So what you are saying is he will signed an extension that lowers his buyout. We will all celebrate and then he will leave next week.

Is this more authoritative than the post last night that said he was a goner?

I have not seen a single a source level for either prediction 😀

My source was someone who would know and has given me good info in the past, but also likes to jump the gun and may say things that aren’t complete yet.
They’ve done that before. That’s why I said I don’t know if I can fully trust it.

One of my buddies is good friends with the coaches son and asked him about all this. Coach Odom has not signed with and currently not in negotiations with any other University's. For now I believe that the positions that coach was interested in have been filled.

I would just tell everyone that there are very few insiders on this board that actually say anything before it is well on it's way to the public. I can speak for myself when I tell everyone that I have no insider info.

Changing coaching staffs every two of three years is no way to build a program.

Agree, but at the same time as long as they leave because they are winning makes it a little more tolerable. It is better than having to sit through the Timmy years just hope we don't go back there.

I disagree. In fact, changing staffs every few years because each one comes in, is successful and gets hired away is one of the only ways to build a program with Utah State's resources and limitations.

I’m afraid darker days than Tim’s are in our future if we can’t keep Odom.

The situation with Cockett and Bovee may result in a decades or two of below .500 seasons.
