I'm not going to lie, it looked bleak as hell. Anyone who says different, except maybe you, is full of it.

That was me but it wasn’t because of the lack of players

Now you know, and knowing is half the battle!

Roster updated.
I left Kalifa Sakho at the #13 slot because there's still a little uncertainty if he stays.

Re: 13=13 (2023-24 Edition)
I still think it is better to hire a coach faster than we did. Wish as soon as Odom left we had Sprinkle lined up ready to go. There might have been good players we missed out on because no coach was in place most notably Roddy Anderson III. With that said, happy with Sprinkle and who he has brought in and excited for next year.Real Life Aggie wrote: ↑May 6th, 2023, 11:56 amAs I recall, "dark clouds [we]re on the horizon," or some other whiny (I can't express myself without swearing).

I was confused by the whole “there is smoke” stuff with that French kid. Is there someone who is not on scholly that we think is? Or is someone waffling on a commitment? I think we are done though.Roy McAvoy wrote:So it would seem in this case that 13 does in fact = 13 at this point and we really are done for realz??

I think we are done. The school released a commitment thing for Javon Jackson. They did NOT do the same for WALK-ON Jaxon Smith.scotlandog wrote: ↑May 12th, 2023, 9:57 amI was confused by the whole “there is smoke” stuff with that French kid. Re: 13=13 (2023-24 Edition)
I'm right half the time maybe when it comes to Aggie basketball, but I gotta say I was never worried about how Sprinkle would do when it came to recruiting. I've always thought that there was no reason why the past few Aggie coaches shouldn't have been better at recruiting than they were. Some may disagree, but I feel that Duryea, Smith and Odom didn't do as good a job as they should have in that area. I looked at what Sprinkle was able to do at Montana State and it seemed pretty clear that he'd do more than ok here. The job he did in recruiting his first year considering how many spots he had to fill in such a short time was nothing less than amazing. So I may be full of it, but not in this case.

Assuming he is heading from Cedar City to Logan (northward), I would have said, “he’s going up to Logan”. Then I looked up the elevation of Cedar City (5,846’) vs Logan (4,534’). You are indeed correct, he is heading down to Logan….AGinNEIowa wrote: ↑May 20th, 2023, 5:59 amMy guess is he has not been on campus yet, at least since 2021. Truth is he's heading from Teton, ID down to Logan.

Re: 13=13 (2023-24 Edition)
So now that it’s done, it looks something like this?
G) Darius Brown, Mason Falslev
G) Josh Uduje, Javon Jackson
F) Nigel Burris, Max Agbonkpolo, Garrison Phelps, Dallin Grant
F) Great Osobor, Isaac Johnson, Karson Templin
C) Jackson Grant, Kalifa Sakho
A few observations:
- This team is BIG & athletic. There’s many variations that can be run with those big guys. I could see Isaac Johnson starting alongside Osobor as well instead. This was just a stab at it.
- This team is also really deep. There’s going to be some upset guys I think because quite frankly there just aren’t enough minutes to go around. I think most these guys before this season were expecting to get good minutes in 2023.
- I’m extremely excited for this team. It’s going to be a brand of Aggie basketball I don’t think I’ve seen in my lifetime of watching USU.
- I have no idea how the season will go, but heading into it and with the dynamic of NIL & no returning players, I have to give Sprinkle an A grade for what he assembled on paper and how this team came together.

Under Eustachy it was............who is Eustachy going to bring in this year, and who will even be around when the season starts? Can he recruit post players who are over 6'6"?
Under Morrill it was always exciting waiting to see which players he would bring in every year. But I can't recall a year where Stew was able to, or needed to, bring in a recruiting class that was as big or as good as this one. Or when he was able to bring in a group of bigs in one year who were this talented overall.

Granted i think being in the mwc rather than the big west certainly doesn’t hurt our efforts

To the "there’s going to be some upset guys" comment, maybe (probably?) but it's comforting to know that this roster is heavily transfer portal guys that just used their free transfer until they graduate. A good position for us to be in.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑May 21st, 2023, 8:19 amSo now that it’s done, it looks something like this?

Two changes I see. I think Johnson will be more of a center than a forward. So I would put him with J. Grant and Sakho.
I also think Dallin Grant plays more of a big forward game than a smalll forward game so I would move him down with Osobor and Templin. But, my bet is that he redshirts this season anyway.

Re: 13=13 (2023-24 Edition)
I am interested in what makes you think that D.Grant is more of a Big than a Wing. From comments here on the board, I thought the opposite.
I also see Johnson as a 5 on Defense, but a four on Offense. I think that combination would be very effective.
I think we are underestimating Phelps. I would not expect him to redshirt, but do expect him to be a contributor.

Re: 13=13 (2023-24 Edition)
I believe it was 22 who had previously described Johnson's game as being more like Horvath than a big man. If I recall that correctly, that seems more forward-esque to me. Do you have other information that make you assert he'll be more like a center?GUS wrote: ↑May 21st, 2023, 8:58 pmTwo changes I see. I think Johnson will be more of a center than a forward. If Falslev really can play some PG, then I'd like this idea. Javon is skilled and would be great to have in a more integrated role for 3 years.
