Trap Game

Post by bpd » February 2nd, 2023, 7:18 pm

I’m worried about the CSU game. It is the perfect trap game.

1. It’s on the road
2. We are coming off a big victory
3. CSU has an extra day to prepare
4. CSU will be plenty motivated after getting handled by UNLV at home
5. CSU has struggled this year, but still has plenty of talent including the top pg in the conference. They won at St Mary’s
6. We may be tired. Other teams have had bury weeks, but ours came after Hawaii. Our next one does not come till close till the end of the season

CSU is more than capable of beating the Aggies. They are solid at home. They have soom good shooters as well as one of the best players in the league. I think the team will be focused and motivated but it won't be easy. Need a fast start.

This is kind of the point. The team has been up and down a bit. When they are good, they beat really good teams, but then they tend to let down inexplicably.

When will they have another down game?

It is absolutely crucial that we as message board commenters don't look past this game. I pledge that I will not.

Don't forget the next game after CSU is SDSU. That adds to the trap game ingredients.

Definitely a trap game, but I like how the Ags are playing right now. I think they will be dialed in.

Just how quickly will we bury this thread after the Aggies win by 15?

I really don't think there are an easy or gimmee games in this league. Every team is tough, every venue is tough...it's really a great basketball conference.

Sucks for CSU, they still have Steven's who is capable of going for 30-40. They will be playing loose with nothing to lose.

Do we have a Martineau to throw at their Freeman? Throw a box and one at em?

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

100% agree my Aggie brother. No gimmes anywhere this season.

Throw in the fact that the MW has told the refs to call games against us.. this makes any MW game all the harder.

This is not a trap game as I define them — which is a gimme game sandwiched between two very tough games leading a team to not prepare for the gimme. Any team that can lose to Weber St. on its home court has no gimme games.

So if a team loses a trap (gimme) game is it then determined it was never a gimme game in the first place and thus was never a trap game? Therefore any trap game lost really was not a trap game?

I can’t see Gordo’s post, so I don’t know if he mentioned this, but apparently CSU will only have 7 scholarship players available tonight.

We better be attacking the basket and being aggressive. They are not going to want to foul and will play soft.

If we are just shooting 3s and fadeaways I will question someones smarts.
